MY FIRST LOVE!

Revelations 2:4 “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy FIRST LOVE.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” (KJV)

‘Twas a day to be remembered,
The day…when first we met;
My life would never be the same,
I thought it was as good as it could get!

My past…was left behind,
All was forgiven…all forgotten;
A bright future lay ahead of us,
MY FIRST LOVE could only deepen.

We spent all our time…together,
Inseparable were we;
Ah, life was good…so very good,
And, we were as happy as could be!

Time marches on…without delay,
For, it does not stand still;
And, I got so very busy,
Even with good things…like trying to do His will.

Sometimes I wandered far away,
One…little step at the time;
And, suddenly I discovered that,
I’d left MY FIRST LOVE…behind.

That’s when I need reminding,
Of how it was at first;
The longing to be together…inseparable,
For this…I had…such a thirst.

Draw me back again…Father,
To MY FIRST LOVE…that I knew;
Create in my heart…the longing,
To walk…daily…closer and closer to You!
