************
We all hide behind a mask,
What did your mask look like, today?
Were you an upright citizen,
Or someone who went astray?
Were you the nicest guy on the block,
A Mom with all the skills;
A Dad who works twelve hours a day,
Just to pay all the bills?
Do you think you're a mighty man of God,
Used by Him in a powerful way;
Or, do you see how much you lack,
Dependant on our LORD…each day?
When we see how small we are,
Lean on Him…because we're weak;
Then, it's Christ who is seen,
And we, of all men…most meek.
The way up…is so often down,
Humbled, we must be;
Think too highly of ourselves,
Mighty men of God…not we!
A mask we wear,
Torn off…it must be;
The phony mask is thrown away,
From its bondage…we are free.
Free to be the real man,
Scary…it may seem;
But, when all is said and done,
'Tis always God's plan…to redeem.
For, man left to himself,
Knows only selfishness and greed;
No hope for him…beyond the grave,
Unless, to God…he will heed.
Our choice…always our choice,
The temporal or Eternal;
Let Him take off the mask,
The façade on our faces…unravel.
