WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?

Jn. 14:23 "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

"What have you learned,
These many years;
From walking close to Me?"
This question…I did hear.

First of all…I must admit,
And, closest to my mind;
Is the thought…too small a box I've built,
Trying to contain, a God so BIG…as mine.

Why do we try to fashion,
A God…after our own image;
When, it's He who has made us,
Fashioned and crafted…for His usage?

I think of His gifts to us,
So used and mis-used;
And, how it must grieve His heart,
To see His gifts of Love…abused.

Have we turned around…completely,
All He has lavished upon us;
And, worshipped the creature…not Creator,
This…we should consider and discuss.

His gifts to us…the purest,
Out of His Love…no strings attached;
We, somehow demean Him,
And, all His generous acts.

And, how about the many times,
We've known His will…and did not do it;
Then, wondered why His voice was still,
So still….we could not hear it?

But these…all negative,
Don't build-up…or edify;
When our God…He is all positive,
And, on Him…we can rely.

It does take that close walk,
A one-on-one with Him;
No second-hand relationships,
That still, small voice…listen to Him.

All the times we come to Him,
Begging…crying…pleading;
Most times we'd not be in such a mess,
If, to His voice…we were heeding.

We've lost the art of listening,
In this world, of fast-pace and instant;
Have we grown tired enough…yet,
Of living only for the moment?

Relationships must be cultivated,
They don't happen over-night;
God knows all about us,
Let's learn about Him…'twill be our greatest delight.

In time…we shall know all about Him,
And, this we'll learn first-hand;
Not other's thoughts about Him,
But, one-on-one…as He's planned.

Then, we can say…with certainty,
Yes, I have learned a lot;
A lot about my God,
For, it's He who has taught!
