************
Have you ever stood before God's throne,
Or perhaps…down on your knees;
Brought petitions to His notice,
As though…somehow…He could not see?
Have you stood in judgment o'er,
Another "blood-bought" son;
Thinking, somehow it was your duty,
As God's mighty…praying one?
We have to be most careful,
As we approach God's throne;
To come in all humbleness and meekness,
Praying in God's will…not our own.
There is one who comes to accuse,
Like him…we don't want to be;
Knowing we too are tempted,
Crying out, in supplication…for one, such as we.
There is power in the tongue,
To bless or to curse;
Let our words be carefully chosen,
Not just hurled out and terse.
Help us O LORD,
Your mouthpiece to be;
Not with words that condemn,
But, words that set free.
While on our knees in prayer,
Let our words come from the heart;
Filled with compassion…empathy,
O LORD, with me…let it start!
