AFTER THE STORM

Matthew 8:24 “And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!”

After the storm is over,
Thank God, it all comes to pass;
Truly, it was rough sailing,
But, because of His grace…it won't last!

Rough seas come in each life,
Sea-sick…we seem to become;
Not so hard for a seasoned-sailor,
But, the novice…just might succumb.

The sailing seems to get rougher,
As we sail out…upon the sea;
Yesterday’s sailing seems easier,
Than what today’s seems to be.

The waves get higher and higher,
The winds don't die down, are more fierce;
Now, gale proportions are they;
Our ship…they threaten to pierce.

Does this describe your daily life,
Waves crashing all around you?
Up and down…up and down,
Oh, whatever can you do?

Hold on tightly…it only gets worse,
A storm is raging…now;
The sea is coughing-up its carnage,
And, there is sweat upon your brow.

Up you are thrust…straight upward,
Then, the bottom seems to drop out;
Down…down into that bottomless pit,
You want to scream…to just shout!

But there’s nobody to hear you,
Even the heavens seem to be brass;
That scream is trapped within you,
As you tie yourself to the mast.

Go down with the ship…if you must,
But, it’s still your only hope;
The storm rages on…fiercely,
As you tie yourself down…with the rope.

Bobbing and reeling…like a cork,
Set out on the sea…adrift;
Our life…much as this ship…sometimes,
With all the drama and rift.

It need not be so…really,
Although I forget from time to time;
We do have an Anchor in our lives,
A Way…out of this pit…to climb.

If we cast our cares upon Him,
Knowing He cares for us;
The stormy seas…calmed,
Our Anchor holds…when we trust.

Trust our LORD to calm the seas,
The gales…won’t blow as they will;
We have an Anchor for our ship,
And, One whom…the seas…shall still!
