A HOUSE DIVIDED

Luke 11:17 “But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and A HOUSE DIVIDED against a house falleth.”

Luke 6:47 “Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”

Have you known the hurt,
The bitterness and anger;
The stresses building up,
Making you and your spouse…strangers?

What began as true love,
So many years ago;
Had been pushed to the limit,
In different directions…you did grow.

What had started as true bliss,
Now, knew total defeat;
Try as hard as you could,
On no common ground could you meet.

It was slow…but steady,
As downward a marriage went;
Tears and heartbreak did abound,
As it made its descent.

But, there were children,
Caught in the middle…were they;
They didn’t know…but sensed it,
It even showed up…as they played.

What to do…no way out,
But, praying parents were they;
Still…the answer was unclear,
No matter how hard they prayed.

Sometimes it takes disaster,
Before we really hear;
And then, the truth comes flooding in,
When that truth is brought near.

That’s what happened in my life,
Trying my best…yet completely undone;
There was no way out,
The full course had been run.

A HOUSE DIVIDED against itself,
We found…it could not stand;
A HOUSE DIVIDED…no,
‘Twas not what God had planned.

Oh, miracle of miracles,
God stepped in…He intervened;
The couple put Him first,
When…on Him…they had to lean.

Christ Jesus came into their lives,
They both asked Him…in;
And things began to change…now,
Their focus was on Him.

Things didn’t change overnight,
But, a new life did begin;
They had a firm foundation…now,
And, the victory they’d win.

Build your life…your marriage,
All that you are or shall be;
Build it upon that Rock,
Begin down on your knees.

What was once divided,
He has made as one;
United…we shall stand,
Because of what the LORD has done!
