Let's back-track…
Back to when things were simple;
So complicated we've become,
Back…to when all things were very special.
It didn't take much to please us,
Small things gave us a thrill;
Now, it seems to take a great deal,
This "emptiness" to fill.
Remember when a hand-made card,
Could start the tears to flowing;
And, when hands held in the park,
A great deal of love…was showing?
Now, a card is not enough,
Thought it be a large, store-bought one;
And, what was once a walk,
Hand-in-hand…no longer fun.
Oh, for the simple days,
When people showed acts of caring;
Now, all we seem able to do,
Spend money…no longer ourselves…sharing.
We pay for all we get,
Don't know how to receive;
So self-sufficient…we've become,
Not easy to trust in others…to believe.
Let's go back to "the good old days",
When we needed one another;
When we could ask for help,
From a friend, neighbor, sister, brother.
