BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED

Philippians 4:11 “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”

************

Do you find yourself in a palace,
Living…like a king;
Born into great riches,
Nothing of your own doing?

Each day…others serve you,
Dashing here and there…with each task;
Always there to help you,
Doing everything you ask.

Born with a silver spoon,
In your mouth…’tis said;
You don’t have to lift a finger,
Everything done for you…instead.

Well, it’s good…if you can get it,
But…not all have been so blessed;
The sweat of our brow…our lot in life,
With just daily living…we are stressed.

From dawn…to dusk,
And, sometimes…without end;
We toil so hard to get ahead,
On our own strength…we depend.

Some rely upon their cunning,
To climb to the top;
Pushing the pedal to the metal,
Hurry…hurry…never stop.

Then…of course…there are others,
Who have no will…no way;
They are not able to do,
The things we take for granted…every day.

Life has placed each one of us,
Into a different situation;
Wishing…will not change it,
Neither…our procrastination.

So, what is the answer,
Whatever shall we do?
Throw our hands up…in the air,
Not the answer…neither is "boo-hoo".

Have we thought about acceptance,
Or perhaps…to be content?
To be happy with our state in life,
Rather than living with dissent.

What if we decided…today,
To be thankful with what we have;
To find joy…even happiness,
Not lusting after…things we do not have?

Would life take on more meaning,
A spring in our step…smile on our face?
Our best wishes toward others,
Just might change the human race.

Let’s go out…give it a try,
What have we to lose…really?
BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED,
It is needed…urgently!
