FORSAKEN !

Mark 15:33 “At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"--which means, "My God, my God, why have you FORSAKEN me?"
35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, "Listen, he's calling Elijah."
36 One man ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to take him down," he said.
37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!"

************

Have you been FORSAKEN,
By those you love…hold dear?
Have they turned their backs on you,
When you have tried to draw near?

The pain of being FORSAKEN,
Like a knife that’s thrust deep;
And, then the blade is twisted,
It hurts so bad…causing you to weep.

Perhaps you’ve FORSAKEN others,
The scars…they still bear;
Meaning to…or not,
It looked like you didn’t care.

Sometimes we’re just too busy,
We overlook their needs;
They grope in the dark…alone,
Their heart is broken…and it bleeds.

We think, nobody has been hurt,
Quite as much as I;
Nor felt their heart break,
Hurt so much…they think they’ll die.

There was One…by the world FORSAKEN,
All had turned away;
At the end…even His Father,
Turned His back and the sky turned gray.

A life lived so perfectly,
Always doing Father’s will;
Obedient…in all ways,
God’s law…He did fulfill.

This Christ Jesus became sin for us,
And, Father had to turn away;
That sin was nailed to the Cross,
Our sin…what we do and what we say.

He could have called ten thousand angels,
And, to His aid…they would come;
But, Christ Jesus had a mission,
And, from this mission…He’d not run.

Without the shedding of blood,
There is no remission of sin; (Heb.9:22)
There was no other way,
That was why He came…this victory to win.

For the ‘joy’ that was set before Him,
A world reconciled back to God;
He gladly endured the Cross,
This was His ‘joy’…His reward.

So, when we feel FORSAKEN,
We need only look to Him;
He’s our shining example,
The victory over sin…He did win!
