************
There's a highway that keeps winding,
As through life I do go;
And this road is never-ending,
Life eternal is its goal.
Some start out on this journey,
Being very young in years;
Others need life's bumps and scrapes,
Before they'll stop and yield.
Those filled with years of knowledge,
Leaning on their abilities;
Find that all is vanity and foolish,
And life is still in jeopardy.
Matters not what time we enter,
Into this thoroughfare;
Tho' much could be avoided,
Saving lots of wear-and-tear.
And, so, in desperation,
In need, complete undone;
We call upon our Saviour,
Our journey just begun.
He leads us and we follow,
Yoked with Him, we cannot fail;
His will is now our purpose,
In His strength, we shall prevail.
Life still has its problems,
Its testings, and its trials;
But, we have the King of Glory,
As our Guide...all the while.
We need not fret and worry,
Be discouraged or give up;
For we follow in His footsteps,
And His grace...truly enough.
In His time, journey completed,
Heaven's gates now I see;
Enter now into His homeland,
A place prepared for you...for me.
Is it the end...no, just beginning,
As our loved ones we do see;
Gathered round His throne we praise Him,
As one...for Eternity.
