************
Are you a person who's hurting,
Betrayed by those closest to you?
Isn’t that when it hurts the most,
The things they say and do?
With all the best of intentions,
Doing all that you can do;
Still…somehow misunderstood,
This hurts the most…it’s true.
So all alone…isolated,
When you need them most of all;
No support or comfort,
Causing you…lower to fall.
You ponder o’er and o’er,
When and where things went wrong;
You try to overlook it all,
But, must admit…you’re not that strong.
Deep wounds…they have inflicted,
Now, you’ve no place to turn;
Your heart is torn into pieces,
Like a searing iron that burns.
I think of the times our Saviour,
Was tempted in the desert;
Those misquoted Scriptures,
All hurled at Him…by the Tempter.
He overcame temptation,
By relying upon God’s Word;
He saw the ‘twist’ in the Scriptures,
And, didn’t listen to what He’d heard.
Our LORD had many times,
When He was misunderstood;
His disciples walked with Him three years,
And, still…didn’t understand all that they should.
How very disappointing to our LORD,
Until one day…Peter’s eyes were opened,
"This has been revealed to you by God",
Is what our LORD responded.
And, when asked to pray with Him,
In the garden…one short hour;
How many stayed awake that long,
Not a one…sleep did overpower.
Nobody to defend Him,
When…before Pilate…He was brought;
Denied and turned away from Him,
Our LORD…had no support.
While hanging on that Cross,
He was all alone;
A few women…there with Him,
Their cowardliness…most had shown.
Hiding in the ‘upper room’,
Behind closed doors…the once so brave;
Afraid for their own lives,
And…perhaps an early grave.
But, “GLORY”…breaking forth,
The stone was rolled away;
Death couldn’t hold Him down,
Alive forevermore…He had come to stay.
Never to leave us…all alone,
Others may turn away;
Even in times of our greatest need,
He remains faithful and will not stray.
What is our ‘hurt’…compared to His?
Great drops of blood…we’ve not shed;
He’s gone before us…to show us the way,
Let’s follow in the way…He has led.
Turn the other cheek,
When you’ve been struck by those you love;
“Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”,
Don’t let them put you down…you can rise above.
His loving hand is upon us,
He’s as close to us…as a prayer;
Cry out to our heavenly Father,
He never gives us more than we can bear.
Take your troubles to Him,
He promises to wipe away each tear;
His healing balm of Love,
He will applied…as you draw near!
