2 Corinthians 4:5 “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who commanded the LIGHT to shine OUT OF DARKNESS, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of DARKNESS into his marvelous LIGHT:
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”

Have you sat in darkness,
In darkness…far too long;
Down there in the pit of despair,
With steep walls all around?

And, what lurks in that darkness,
The things that plague your mind?
Like creepy…crawly creatures,
They slither down there…in the slime.

Oh…‘tis so foreboding,
The things that in darkness lurk;
All around is gloomy darkness,
We simply cannot escape this murk.

A vicious circle…round and round,
And, always spiraling down;
Who can deliver from this prison,
Before we…in our fears do drown?

I found the answer,
‘Twas so very simple…so clear;
Why I didn’t see it sooner,
I have no idea.

The only way darkness will flee,
Is to shine a Light upon it;
Don’t succumb to its power,
Just do the opposite.

Plain…and Oh…so simple,
Yet, so hard…sometimes to see;
But, we’ve had so many examples,
Set out in His Word…for you and me.

Let ignorance, fear, and superstition,
Try to stand…against the Light;
The Light dispels the darkness,
And, it will have to take flight.

Watch those creepy…crawly creatures,
Those things that…in darkness dwell;
Be pushed back…to be no more,
Their lies to us…no longer tell.

For with the Light…they must recede,
Their power lost…forever;
They need darkness to multiply,
That power…we shall give them…never!

Let the Light of God’s Word,
Fill all of your being;
Pushing back the darkness,
Until only His Light…we’re seeing.

See the dramatic change in your life,
For Light causes things to grow;
Your life will never be the same,
Back to that prison…you’ll not go!

A challenge now…I do present,
Let that little Light shine brightly;
Step out…in all boldness,
Do it hourly…daily…nightly.

One little Light will join another,
Soon…a BIG Light for the world to see;
Ignorance, fear, and superstition…gone,
From the prison…all are set free!
