A LAMB

Gen. 22:7 “And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the LAMB for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a LAMB for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the LAMB of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the LAMB of God!
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.”

It’s been said…it has been written,
Back…way back in the days of yore;
That God would provide a LAMB,
The sin of the world…to die for.

Many lambs were offered up,
Sometimes a daily sacrifice;
But, sin did still abound,
Mankind at its best…couldn’t pay the price.

Without the shedding of blood,
There is no remission of sin;
Even ancient peoples knew this,
Still, the battle they could not win.

But, a Perfect Sacrifice was coming,
This…God did decree;
In the fullness of His time,
And, His promise was His guarantee.

Still, we tried to do it our way,
Tried, to reach up to Him;
Tried to…somehow be perfect,
And, to rid ourselves of sin.

But, human nature…being as it is,
Try as we might…we couldn’t tame it;
In the weakness of our flesh,
That sinful nature would not quit.

Thank God, He knew how we were made,
For…it’s He who has made us;
That’s why He promised us a LAMB,
An atonement for our sin.

We could never reach up to Him,
Why would we even try;
For it’s He who came down to us,
Emmanuel…God with us…we can’t deny.

Thank You, Jesus…the LAMB of God,
Come to take away our sin;
Our Perfect LAMB…without blemish,
Atonement for our sin.

So, let’s begin to thank our Father,
For providing Himself a LAMB;
By faith…believing His promise,
Truly…He is the great I AM!
