MORTAL...IMMORTALITY

1 Corinthians 15:51 “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this MORTAL must put on IMMORTALITY.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this MORTAL shall have put on IMMORTALITY, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the LIGHT of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the LIGHT of life.”

************

Have you come face-to-face,
With mortality…today;
Thought you would live forever,
Or at least…it was far away?

“But…it’s for the very old”,
That’s what is thought and what we say;
“I can eat, drink, and be merry,
Later…the Piper…I shall pay.”

Perhaps you’re a babe in arms,
Eighty years lay before you;
Your parents have big plans,
Great things for you to do.

Teens are indispensable,
Of course…we all know that to be true;
They fall down…they get up,
Most…but not so…for a few.

Still…life has its surprises,
Not always just as we plan;
So…we should keep busy,
And, do all that we can.

We’ll pass this way…but one time,
Our journey…short and sweet;
Leave the world a better place,
Give something good…to everyone you meet.

Sow words of kindness,
Do acts of love;
Be that voice…that listening ear,
Help others…their problems…to rise above.

How long we shall be here,
It’s not for us to know;
But, while we are here,
Let’s nurture…help others to grow.

And, then…one glorious day,
These robes of flesh we’ll lay aside;
No more problems to hold us back,
Our narrowed vision…opens wide.

Our spirit leaves behind,
The flesh…neatly folded…put away;
Now, we know total freedom,
As we follow the LIGHT…into that bright, new day!
