POSITION OR MINISTRY?

Acts 9: 3 "And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
4 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."

Do you have a "position",
Given to you by man;
Years and years of study,
All that the world demands?

Saul had years of training,
A Pharisee was he;
But, on a fateful trip to Damascus,
His life, the same, would never be.

He had an experience with JESUS,
Even called Him…LORD;
This experience so blinding him,
Got his attention…did our God!

Led into the city,
Still blind was he;
And remained so for three days,
Neither ate nor drank…did he.

Saul was busy praying,
In a vision…he did see;
One called Ananias…coming,
Put his hand on Saul and he did see.

All this time God was at work,
To Ananias spoke…He;
Sending him to Saul…to lay his hands on him,
And, from this blindness…set free.

Saul was filled with the Holy Spirit,
Scales removed from his eyes;
He received sight…immediately,
Arose and was baptised.

Immediately, he preached Christ,
That He is the Son of God;
Confounding all the Jews,
Proving that this JESUS was the Christ.

Somewhere, down along the way,
Saul's name was changed to Paul;
Names always speak of our "nature",
His "nature" changed…agreed all.

We can go through years of study,
Learn all there is "about" Him;
Be held in high esteem…as Saul,
And, never really "know" Him.

Having all the right words,
Our "position" aptly fill;
And, still…without that Damascus Road,
Our relationship with Him is NIL.

God has called us to…a "ministry",
He never intended a "position" to fill;
Therein lies the difference,
Man's will…or God's will.

Don't settle for man's acclaim,
And, the "position" that pays the bills;
Don't sell yourself short,
The very best is…God's will.

Pray for that Damascus Road experience,
Your life shall never be the same;
Let Him strike you down with blindness,
Then, raise you up…again.

Raise you in the "knowing",
That Jesus Christ is LORD;
Now, with a nature-change,
We're ready to be used by God!
