"What is your relationship,
Your relationship with Me?"
An interesting question,
My Saviour put to me.

I had to sit back awhile,
To give it much thought;
All the things I'd done for Him,
And, the many…I had not.

But, are "things" a relationship,
Or, do we still try to earn;
Our Lord and Saviour's attention,
Expecting to receive something in return?

What kind of relationship,
Would a marriage be;
If we gave…only to receive,
How selfish of you and me!

And, our closest…dearest friends,
If we only give and take;
What kind of a relationship,
What kind would that make?

A parent to a child,
Can have selfish motives;
Expecting in return,
To relive their own successes.

"What is your relationship,
Your relationshp with Me?"
Let's not avoid the issue,
What is it…He wants us to see?

Do we spent time with,
This One…our Best Friend;
The One who gave His life for us,
To the power of sin…put an end?

God's plan has always been,
For a relationship with man;
But, sin had separated us,
From all that He had planned.

Then, JESUS came…determined,
To do His Father's will;
Unlike the first Adam,
His Father's will…fulfill.

And, now that wall is broken down,
That separated us;
By the shed blood of JESUS,
In our Best Friend…we can trust.

We can trust..because we know,
God raised Him from the dead;
If not our Perfect Sacrifice,
God would have left Him in the ground…instead.

We owe a lot…everything,
To our Best Friend;
Our heart's desire should be,
More time…with Him…to spend.

Getting to know more "about" Him,
Somehow, it's not enough;
A relationship…with Him,
That's what He wants…the real stuff.

Being honest with each other,
Down deep…in our heart-of-hearts;
Nothing held back,
That's where a relationship starts.

Not because we owe it,
For freely He did give;
His unconditional Love…poured-out,
His life…that we might live.

Let's work on that relationship,
Grow closer day by day;
For it does take effort,
A solid foundation to lay.

"What is your relationship,
Your relationship with Me?"
Let's be able to say,
"LORD, all day long…with You…I want to be."
