THE BIG QUESTION - "WHY?"

1 Corinthians 15:51 “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--
52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(NIV)

************

Have you very often wondered,
Just “WHY” am I here;
What was Father thinking of,
And, “WHY” did He draw near?

“WHY” is the natural man,
Placed here…upon the earth;
Only to return to God,
After the natural man’s ‘new-birth’?

“WHY” do we go through this process,
“WHY” do we come here at all;
Couldn’t we by-pass our time here,
And be like Adam…before the fall?

If…ultimately…we return to God,
Then “WHY” bother with the sojourn?
Is our time here…merely a test,
And, our ‘new birth’…something we must earn?

So many things to ponder,
Still, THE BIG GUESTION arises;
God…in His infinite wisdom,
Seems to give us a life with many surprises.

Life is never ‘dull’…for sure,
Each stage of life is different;
Many challenges we must face,
While here…we’re but a student.

When we’re young…we have all the answers,
Or so…it would seem;
Our life is all before us,
And, we have so many dreams.

Mid-way…we start to wonder,
Can I make all my dreams come true?
I had such high expectations,
Will they all happen…before my life is through?

Before we know it,
Our youth is gone…it did flee;
Where it went…I know not,
But, time marches on…you see!

Now there is time to ponder,
THE BIG QUESTION that we’ve had;
“WHY”…still has not been answered,
It can’t help but make us sad.

“WHY” were we thrust into the world,
“WHY” are we here at all?
“WHY” did God choose this way,
What was His plan…overall?

Perhaps to show our need for Him,
Impossible…on our own;
We can begin to see His plan,
As closer to Him…we have grown.

He deals in the Eternal,
Temporal…means naught to Him;
He’s teaching us…Eternal,
While temporal…grows dim.

We don’t have all the answers,
And, I know…we never shall;
But, we know…He who does,
And, all He does…He does so very well!
