INDO-CHINA (now Cambodia, Loas, Vietnam)

Indo-China, French (Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam 1889-1945) - all issues - outstanding site: Indochina (Indo-chine) was under French control from 1889-1945, area consisting of Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. All the postage stamps used in Indochina were issues of French stamps with "INDOCHINE" imprint. There was only one souvenir sheet issued in Indochina, Colonial Arts Exhibition Issue on April 15, 1937. Indochina stamps are relative cheaper than other Asian countries' stamps. I believe Indochina will be a hot collecting area with in two years.

Ireland - short: Ireland was occupied by Goidelic speaking Celts during the Iron Age. They were converted to Christianity by Saint Patrick in the 5th century. Henry II of England declared himself lord of Ireland in 1171, but English influence was restricted to the area around Dublin. Henry VIII took the title of King of Ireland in 1542. A struggle for Irish freedom developed in the 18th and 19th centuries including such revolutionary movements as Wolfe Tone's United Irishmen, Young Ireland and the Fenians. Armed rebellion led to a republic proclaimed by Sinn Fein in 1919.

Partition was proposed by Britain in 1920 and a treaty was signed giving dominion status in 1921. The country was renamed Eire in 1937 and left the Commonwealth in 1949.

The first postage stamps were issued in 1922.

Japan Scott #378a - postal souviner sheet This souvenir sheet was issued on December 12, 1946, along with the four individual stamps (Scott 375-378) that are pictured on it, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the government postal service in Japan. It measures 183 x 125 mm and is ungummed. There were two printings. In the first printing the four colors were printed simultaneously while in the second printing the stamp images were printed in one step and the sheet inscriptions in another. The two printings can be distinguished by the upper arched inscription which is in high relief in printing I and flat in printing II. There were 2,000 copies of printing I and 49,000 of printing II; the catalog values for unused sheets are $950 and $175 respectively. . Complex97's Philatelic Center: Welcome, my friend! Stamp is just such an object that has enthused me since I was a little boy. As I can remeber, I think it's from my aunt (my mother's sister) I first learned what stamp was. However, through all the past years, I did not start collecting stamps, because of lacking resources. Until last year when the Canadian OX stamp was issued, I decided to make my move. As soon as I started, I've enjoyed the knowledge I gained from the little images. Later, I noticed that the Internet had become the bigest resources for stamp collectors. Now, I purchase & trade stamps or relative items through the net with dealers & other collector.
