   Alamgir, born in Bangladesh, is currently a Bangladeshi-Canadian artist living in Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan where he emigrated in 1990. Alamgir graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In painting and drawing from the Institute of Fine Art, University of Dhaka in 1975, and, in 1979, completed a Master s in Graphic Print from the M.S. University of Boroda in Gujurat, India. Alamgir won numerous awards for his work, both in Bangladesh and India, and conducted numerous graphic workshops in both countries during the 1980s.

   Continuing a tradition of modern abstraction, Alamgir works in the media of painting, Printmaking and mixed media works on paper. Although specializing as a printmaker, the Artists methods and subjects translate easily from one medium to another. Inherent in the work, and important to its understanding, is the primacy of the traces and textures of human graphic activity. As well as bold colors and formal compositions, the works also reveal a subtle and sensitive geography of evocative textures, hieroglyphic or ideogrammatic expression and gestural mark making.
