No

A publication written by and directed towards a generation who refuses to sit down and shut up

"I was raised on T.V. and video games. I began watching television at around birth and my mom gave me her old Atari when I was two years old. The both of these forms of multi media have done so much for me such as providing me with a companion, a baby sitter and a teacher."

-"Bang" from NO#1-

NO is a ZINE (pronounced zeen) of collected writings, political stabs, social commentary and anything inbetween. It is an endeavor I put together in April of 1999 when I wanted to publish my own comic and I realized I couldn't draw. That is a pretty major downfall to a kid who wants to put out his own comic, as you could imagine, so I picked up my first ZINES, marveled at the idea of it and I decided to make one up of my own. The title of it, as you see above, is NO and as I am aware, it is one of the only ZINES circulating around the Portland Maine area.

STOP THE RAPE OF INNOCENT PENGUINS

I just said that to help you retain attention down to this line. Feel free to read on.

I began doing the ZINE by laying it out and photo copying the pages in my school. This was accomplished by waiting until the computer lab teacher left the room for a large period of time, in order to steathily make use of the copying equipment. I did this a few times before a parent caught wind of what I was doing, send the publication to the principal and my publishing career looked as if it were dead. This all happened at the worst of times, as well, as I was half way through with publishing the third ZINE, which was never finished.

After realizing how much I missed the ZINE world, I wrote some stuff and laid out a fourth issue. This time, I brought it to a copy shop, made up three-hundred of them and began the selling process. This is where you, the web reader comes in. If you are interested in what I am pimping, so be it! That is good for me. Send me one dollar to cover the initial cost of the zine and fifty cents to:

Now lets get cracking, here. If you have any more questions, about ZINES, about me, about anything I may be able to answer, please email me at the above link and feel free to ask them. I cant wait to hear from you all.
