Biography

Adrian's No Doubt story begins in about the year 1988. You see, he was a fan of the band back in the time of its beginning. He was present at numerous shows making a scene in the mosh pit. Then finally, in 1989 a dream of his became reality; he was asked if he wanted to join the band as the drummer. Since he had not played drums in a band before it would prove to be a real challenge but he gave it a shot. He decided to join Gwen, Tony and Tom as part of No Doubt.

Once he was in the band his influences started to show. He was a fan of Pop/Rock bands like the Police and he modeled his drumming after them. Also, his on-stage presence has brought more excitement to the No Doubt shows. His off stage personality became evident as well; he was a true party animal and the groupies started to gather after the shows. One of these groupies who met Adrian after a show in Chicago was lucky enough to become his girlfriend.

Around the time Tragic Kingdom was to be released there was great expectation in the air. The media was flocking to a bleached blonde girl fronting an emerging rock band. The guys in the band were being left in the dark without much publicity. Adrian seized the moment. He missed his girlfriend because the band was on the road so much. He knew that she was an ex-Goth and he paid tribute to her: he wore make-up around his eyes and lips. Besides that he grew devil horns on his head(gelled up hair); perfect! It took some attention away from Gwen and began his own following.

His girlfriend then appeared in the "Just a Girl" video. The Devil horns look stayed until the end of the 1996 summer when he went to the more common crew cut. (He has since tried a few different styles). Adrian does not do much song writing; he was given credit for "Move On" but claims that he really doesn't deserve much credit in that way. Instead, he feels that he just shows up when needed and gives the songs a little something extra. Gwen says that songs are like children and Adrian is their uncle. She says he invites them over and gives them beer; basically spoils them.

He has tried some stunts in his time with the band but none more spectacular as what he did when the band was in Germany recently. Dennis Rodman has said he wants to play his last game naked; well Adrian has done him one up. While in Germany Adrian played two shows completely naked! There is sure to be much in the future of this cool rock band; hopefully Adrian will be there for the ride. The No Doubt sound would be nothing without the drums -- they're my favorite part. But I must say; what will Adrian come up with next?
