General Ideas for Americans for America! Goals

You can call these ground rules, random ramblings or whatever you want, but I thought that there should be some kind of statement of what I perceive the problem to be, and what should be done about it.

First, the problems. The problem, at its most basic form, is that there are too many laws. Just about any group with money can get a law passed to try to stop some behavior that they find offensive. And the government is always ready to pass other laws to impede any group that seeks to limit their power or income. The final result is that we now have laws concerning almost all aspects of life. The result of all of these laws is obvious. Although the US likes to be known of the 'land of the free', it is anything but free. The us has more, as well as the highest percentage, people incarcerated that any other industrialized country. While the US Government rails against other countries, and their 'oppressive' laws, we lock up a higher rate. And the ironic part is that we are the only industrialized country that kills the 'worst offenders'. Presumably, we should have a lower rate of incarceration because we don't let all offenders live.

Now for some possible solutions. The best solution would be to nullify all laws passed since 1929, and change the rules for passing new laws. These changes could be changing the requirement for passage to a 2/3 majority and requiring only on law to be passed at a time. Currently, they can pass a law banning pet grooming by attaching it to a necessary bill like the budget. Another possiblility that would not require an across the board nullification would be to require that 2 laws be repealed for every law passed, in conjunction with the change in passage requirements mentioned above.

This is an open forum. If you have better ideas, send them in and they will be posted.
