Claire Danes was born on April 12, 1979 in New York City, New York to Chris (a computer consultant) and Carla (day care provider, painter, and textile designer) Danes. Claire also has a brother, Aza Danes.
Claire grew up in New York City, and started taking acting classes at the Lee Srasberg Studio when she was 9 years old. During her sixth and seventh grade years, she was enrolled in the Professional Performing Arts School. In addition to acting classes, Claire also studied modern dance and was in gymnastics. She now lives in Los Angeles. Claire got a Golden Globe Award for her role in My So-Called Life.
