PALM PILOT ALTERNATIVE
CASE
Buxton WaxWear(R) All-Weather Zip Wallet
Jan 29, 1998 - After a second trip to the store, I was able to get additional
information about the case. So here it is:
- Buxton WaxWear Product Line - "Wax Wear is a new old product. It is a woven
cotton based fabric which has been impregnated with a paraffin formula derived from fabric finishes of the
late 1800's and early 1900's. It is proofed against inclement weather but retains the breathability of
cotton. It exhibits qualities of the durable synthetic finishes and testes high on outer-wear
requirements. It even rivals nylon in abrasion resistance.
Wax Wear gets better as it is worn. It become comfortably used and shows its character in a unique fashion.
When hung in a warm room it re-finshes itself and relaxes so use marks fade. The imperfections of the
fabric are all part of the rugged, worn look... If necessary you can re-apply our compound to areas of rough wear and
re-proof your garment."

Jan 12, 1998 - During the Holiday shopping at a local mall, I
came across this case which I feel that it is a very good alternative case
for the 3COM PalmPilot. The case made by Buxton. I found it in the Samsonite Luggage
Store and its price was $25. When I asked why I couldn't find it in any
other store, I was informed that Buxton discontinued this case already.
What she has is the left-over. It has so many features that I thought I
took some pictures instead to show what it looks like. Below are some of
its features.
- Made with rugged oil-tanned material, probably
waterproof
- Soft padding, feel good in hand
- Work just like my old planner, look very professional
when you carry it to the meeting
- Width is the same as PalmPilot, height is little
longer. The PalmPilot fits in it very nicely. The case fits in your front
shirt pocket
- Two (2) belt loops on the back of the case (shown
in picture 2) so you can on your belt horizontally
- Four (4) zippered. One (1) to close the case
on three sides. One (1) along the outside length (shown in picture 1).
One (1) along the inside-top, probably for cash (shown in picture 3, above
the PalmPilot). And one (1) short one, originally under the PalmPilot in
picture 3, but I removed it and replaced it with velco to attach the PalmPilot
- Quick release hook on top ( I modified it slightly
as shown in the picture below). I hooked my PalmPilot to my trouser's side belt loop
(look very cool, almost like a cowboy's gun)
- Six (6) slots for credit/business cards, 3 on
each side
- One (1) side slots (shown in picture 3, along
the right hand side of the 3 credit card slots). I removed the plastic
insert that intend to protect the screen from the original OEM case
and put it in there to protect my screen. It fits perfectly.
The case design was so perfect for the PalmPilot,
I felt like it was design for it. The case fits my need perfectly and I
hope it will benifit all fellow Piloteer as well. Good luck on your search
for YOUR PERFECT case. If you didn't find it in your local area and if
I have large enough request, I might make another trip to the store to
help you with your purchase. Now, there is no guarantee that the store
still carries it. Just e-mail me.
