Anita '98 - A Year in Review

RTHK 20th Anniversary Anita won one of "Best 10 Songs in the Last 20 Years.'' ~~~ "Chi Sui Lau Lin" - Like Water Flowing Year

Anita went to Singapore and Malaysia for the Star East Signing Ceremony.

"Chin Gor" - Love Song Part 1 was released. ~~~ Capital Artists used an old photo of Anita in '95 for the album's cover. Anita complained Capital Artists about the release of this double CDs. The compilation album itself surprisingly topped the Hong Kong IFPI Chart and stayed there (among the top 10 Best-Sellers) for a couple weeks after that.

FEBRUARY

Anita and Andy went to China Star's Annual Dinner ~~~ Anita and Andy sang their new Mandarin duet, "Bit Suet Oi Chin Koo" - Don't Say That Love Hurts." That was first time that they sang this song live! The duet was included in Andy's Mandarin album "Love Deep in My Heart." They also made a MTV together. The MTV was in Andy's double Karaoke VCDs of the same album's title.

Anita's Godfather, Mr. Leonard Ho, died. ~~~ Anita stayed with his family everyday for more than one week. She refused to talk to the press during that time.

17th Annual Hong Kong Film Award Ceremony Anita won the Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie "Boon Sun Yuen" - Eighteen Springs. ~~~ Ann Hui, a famous female director in Hong Kong, directed the movie. It was filmed in Shanghai. Anita got sick during the first couple days of filming due to changes in weather. Yet, she delivered her role very well which truly earned her the award. The film also starred Leon Lai-Ming, Jacqueline Wu (Ng Sin-Lin), and Ge Gou.

Cable TV HorseRacing Ceremony Anita was the guest for the opening ceremony. But, due to the contract with TVB, she didn't appear.

Anita went to Singapore again for Star East.

Koo Ka-Fai /Jim Wong Friendship Concert - Anita was the special guest for "Fai Gor" & "Chime Suk" Concert. ~~~ Jim Wong, a well-respected lyricist/composer/singer in Hong Kong, made a very special introduction about the special appearance of Anita that night. She took the center stage by starting out with the song "Sam Chai" (Anita's song in '82 which was written by Jim Wong himself and was composed and arranged by Joseph Koo Ka-Fai, a talented composer for 30 years or so). Anita wore a very beautiful dress (the same dress that she wore at the second encore part in the American - World Tour Concert at Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles). Afterward, Anita and Jim Wong had a short conversation in which Wong praised Anita for her talent. "Fai Gor" even made some good comments too! She then sang one more song ("Chin Bee Yue See") and shook hand with the audience before she waved them good bye. The concert itself also featured veteran singers like Francis Yip Lei-Yee, Jonny Yip, Elisa Chan Kit-Lin, Lisa Wong Ming-Chuen, Adam Cheng Siu-Chow, Roman Law, and many more. Both concert album (2CDs) and concert Vcd (4VCDs) were released. For any fans (especially to those who live in the States) who have not yet buy or would like to buy those CDs and/or VCDs, the concert album is available at AsiaCD http://www.asiacd.com and the concert Vcd is available at HKPOP http://www.hkpop.com

"Changing Melody" Anita's Cantonese album was released. ~~~ This album included couple new songs and some old songs which had been sung before by other singers/group like Danny Chan Pa-Keung, Teresa Tang, Wynners, etc... Anthony Lun, Anita's producer, freshened up all the compositions, which made those songs had new touch. Anita's performance was perfect. The quality of the album was good even though it was mellower than the previous albums.

Anita had a lot of interviews in RTHK, CR, and Metro Radio.

Anita went to Taiwan and had a press conference about new houses.

Anita went to her mom's function (Anti-Cancer) - 3rd Anniversary Dinner.

Anita had an interview in Jacky Cheung's radio program in RTHK. ~~~ Anita and Jacky, Anita's God brother-in-law, talked about Anita's past romances.

JULY

TVB's Jade Solid Gold Anita held a mini-concert on JSG Program hosted by Wyman Wong. ~~~ It was a one-hour program. Anita changed into 4 sets of clothes and sang around twenty songs including 8 songs from her most recent Cantonese album "Changing Melody." At the opening when Anita introduced her next song "Kam Thin Ngo Fei Cheung Chit Mot," Anita told that she was lonely because she missed her fans. She and Wyman played "truth or dare" game, which Wyman lost and he had to drink the whole cup of milk. Miriam Yeung Chin-Wah and Edmond Leung Hoi-Man were the two guests. Each of them sang an Anita's song. They were called "si mui" and "si tay" of Anita. There was a part when Anita willingly sang for the audience any songs that they requested. She also helped Wyman with the week TVB top ten songs. Anita did end the program with the song Stand By Me. Of course, we will always stand by Anita forever.........

Anita was the judge for the New Talent Singing Competition. ~~~ Anita performed 2 songs too!

Anita had her first autograph function in Tai Koo Shing's KPS. ~~~ Capital Artists did not do much or rather any promotions for Anita's new Cantonese album "Changing Melody" which made Anita very upset. Despite that fact, Anita did manage to hold an autograph function for her fans.

AUGUST

Anita had an interview with Amanda Lee in CR2. ~~~ She gave out a watch as to help the flooding victims in China.

Anita was in TVB's TV show and performed 1 song to help the flooding victims in China.

SEPTEMBER

"Chin Gor - Anita Mui 2" - Love Song Part 2 was released. ~~~ Capital Artists released the second compilation of Anita's songs.

Anita left HK to Atlantic City. ~~~ Anita flew to Atlantic City, New Jersey to get ready for the start of the (one week) America - World Tour Concert '98.

Showboat Casino and Hotel, Atlantic City - New Jersey Anita held two concerts @2a.m. & @2p.m. in the Mississippi Pavilion. ~~~ The tickets for both shows were SOLD OUT around 3 weeks before the opening night. Very impressive indeed!!! During the concerts, Anita sang and danced beautifully. It had been a long time since the last time that Anita came to States for concerts, especially for those whose live in the East Coast.

OCTOBER

Los Angeles, California Anita held one concert @8p.m in Shrine Auditorium ~~~ The famous Shrine Auditorium in L.A. and hundreds of supporting fans welcomed the arrival of the one and only Queen of Pop in Hong Kong - Miss Anita Mui Yim-Fong for a wonderful and memorable night of concert.

Kim Robinson's Hair Show in Hong Kong Anita was one of the models.

Anita celebrated her birthday with her fans in Hong Kong. ~~~ Anita's International Fans Club held the party. New World Hotel was the gathering place for all Anita's fans who came to celebrate with her. Her mom, Mrs. Mui, and elder sister, Ann Mui Oi-Fong accompanied Anita that night. Anita and Ann both sang some songs at the party too.

Anita had her birthday dinner with family and friends. ~~~ Jacky Cheung Hok-Yau, May Law, etc... joined Anita for dinner.

Anita went to Eric So's wedding party.

Leslie Cheung's mother died. ~~~ Anita attended the funeral.

NOVEMBER

Jacky Chan's "Jacky Chan Cup Car-Racing" Competition Anita was one of the guests. She doesn't have a license; therefore, she didn't drive.

"Moonlight Before Bed" Anita's Mandarin Album was released worldwide. ~~~ It was the second Mandarin album that Anita made under BMG/Music Impact. After the big success of the previous album "Woman Flower," this new album did manage to stay in the top 10 of Taiwan IFPI Chart for nearly a month. Both songs "Moonlight Before Bed" and "The Sheep That Loves Wolves" have been on various Hong Kong's Pop Charts.

Double "A" Plan BMG Taiwan and BMG representatives in the world held a press conference upon the release of Anita's new Mandarin album "Moonlight Before Bed" and Andy's new+compilation album "Foolish Child." ~~~ All BMG representatives in the world came to Taiwan and each of them gave Anita a gift. In addition, Anita went to Super Sunday and many other TV stations and Radio programs. She also had 2 concert in Taiwan too.

Anita went to the Fund Raising Function of the Protect Animal Organization

Anita started the promotion for her Mandarin album in Hong Kong. She went to RTHK, CR, and Metro Radio to promote.

Anita attended the function of Tourist Association. ~~~ She sang some songs and danced too!!!

Anita went to Jacky Chan's "thousands people meal" function and sang some songs.

Anita helped RTHK5 and went to the function. ~~~ She helped to change diapers =D

Tung Wah Charity Show Anita sang 1 song, "The Sheep Loves Wolves," from her latest Mandarin album.

Taiwan Golden Horse Award Ceremony Anita was one of the guests. But, due to some problems, she didn't show up at the end.

Genting, Kuala Lumpur Anita had 2 concerts at the Star Stadium in Malaysia ~~~ What's better time in the year than spending Christmas with Anita?!? Although there was no snow in Malaysia, Anita took the stage by storm. She than heated it ups with the fantastic performance and the unforgettable encores.

RTHK's Press Conference Anita was the winner of the Golden Needle Lifetime Achievement Award. ~~~ Andy gave her 1000 red roses, which were made into a very beautiful arrangement that spelled out the name of Anita [ANITA]. Her God son from France, Jacky Cheung Hok-Yau, and many more were at the conference with her too.
