Handouts

A Handout on the Angelican Religion

The Truth Is Out There!

Mulder and Scully are out there looking for the truth. They are convinced the truth is out there. This is what makes The X-Files such a popular show.

We all have a need for meaning to give our lives a sense of purpose. You may have looked for truth in the horoscope page of the newspaper or magazine you've bought to read on the train. You may love those atmospheric new shops springing up in shopping centres that sell crystals, charms and essential oils. Or you may stick to organised religion in a search for some explanation about our existence.

Agent Mulder looks for the truth in the strange and bizarre. He hopes to find answers to the mysteries in his life. Agent Scully, however, is skeptical. She is keen to subject everything they encounter to the scrutiny of scientific analysis. She wants to reduce it all to a scientific explanation. However even if the existence of something can be explaained, it still leaves the question of whether or not it happened for a reason. So being able to explain the process of how our world came into existence doesn't include the possibility that there is a purpose for our world.

Jesus said:  I am the Way, and the truth and the Life (John 14:6)  God our creater is the truth out there. A truth even Mulder and Scully may one day find.Where is the truth for you?
