Anti-Silence, South Florida Music Scene

Welcome to Anti-Silence, a li'l collective devoted to doing big things for South Florida Bands. Here you'll find all kinds of stuff, including links to local bands, distros, clubs, etc., plus info on how to get help for your band, or how you can help out.

As a small part of the local scene myself, I got tired of the disorganization of the whole thing. A lot of bands never have anyone to gig with, never have a place to play, or just have trouble even getting on their feet at all. My mission (non-profit, of course) is to change that.

So, you may ask, what can Anti-Silence do for me? Anti-Silence provides a forum for keeping up with the local scene, but that's not all. We're devoted to helping you out in any way we can, and with as little expense to you as possible (cause let's face it, this band stuff can really leave you strapped for cash!). Here's just some of the stuff we'll try to help you out with:

And pretty much anything else you can think of, we'll try to do for you. It works as a favors-for-favors sort of thing. For example, say we hook Johnny Guitar Player and his band up with a gig. As it happens, Johnny has a big van that's perfect for hauling gear, and some other band needs to get their drums to a gig but don't have a way to do it. Johnny Guitar Player is happy to help us out, because we've helped him out. No, it's not like selling your soul, and I'm not the Godfather here. All we ask is that you help out when you can.

How can I help? Easy. Put a link to Anti-Silence on your page. If you have a zine, throw the URL in there. Tell your friends. Go to shows and support your fellow bands. Hand out fliers or zines or something if we need you to. If you can provide crash space for a band for a night, let us know. If you're pretty well-known in the area, try to take some smaller bands under your wing. Basically, anything you can do is a big help to everyone. If you want to help, drop me some mail.

****SOME REEEAL BAD NEWS!****
My hard drive took a nose dive a couple of days ago. It SUCKS! My directory is still there, but my DOS drivers are gone... to spare you the geek speak, it's a big-ass mess. I'm depressed. What does this have to do with you? Well, Anti-Silence won't be getting updated for a while, and to boot, I lost all the updates that I had saved to my hard disk (including the zines page, which sucks!). Also, you can't E-mail me at FuzzySlippaz@juno.com for a good while... if you REALLY need me, try SleeperHit@aol.com, but I can't promise you I'll be checking that addy too much. I'm doing my best to get my machine back up and running, but until then... I'm pretty well useless. If anyone would like to volunteer to run things for me for a while, E-mail me at the AOL addy above. Sorry, kiddies- but I'm working on it.

Another Note- It's now May, and I've added a few of your links. This sucks. Still tryin' like hell to hold this thing together... but still, let me know if you need any help.
