Can and how can I communicate with the Goddess and the God?
Yes, you can communicate with the Goddess/God. There are several ways that we commune with the deities. One way is just a simple prayer to just talk to them. I don't believe that the deities are only to be called upon in dire straits but that it helps your relationship with them to commune with them often. It can quite often brighten a gloomy day. Another way is through meditation. I will explain meditation in detail in the next question. Simply taking a walk in a natural setting and opening yourself to drawing in the natural world around you can get you in touch with the Goddess/God. The best thing to do is to try it and see what brings you the best results probably a combination of things. May the Goddess and the God give you guidance.
How do you meditate?
This is how I do it but there are many ways to go about it. First you need to find a quiet undisturbed place. It's hard to meditate when you're being interrupted every few minutes. Next, sit and try to relax. Breathe slowly and deeply but comfortably. The point is to get relaxed. Put your hands on your knees, palms up, in a comfortable manner. Close your eyes and continue relaxing breathing. When your first learning to meditate, it helps to visualize wiccan symbols, things of nature, or just simply talk to the deities in your mind while you have your eyes closed and are relaxed. Continue as long as you feel you need to. I like to thank the deities for communing with me when I am finished but that is up to you. When you are done, open your eyes and that is all there is to it. You should feel pretty good when your done and it is a great way to just relieve stress. Sometimes it is helpful to set the mood with candles and incense or even some relaxing music. Some prefer to do meditation laying down or even in a warm relaxing bath. Do what works for you.
Do you need a teacher?
Personally I never had a teacher but some feel it is necessary. I have enjoyed learning as a solitary at my own pace and discovering my own style. That is not to say that you shouldn't have a teacher. There are some very good covens and wiccans who are willing to share their knowledge. You are welcome to join my beginning wicca class if you would like a little direction in learning about wicca. I think finding a teacher or not is something you have to decide for yourself.
