Christmas Welcome Wreath
Kids and Parents both like this very special Christmas Hand Wreath
created by first tracing about 10 hands onto green construction
paper and then cutting them out and gluing them onto a cardboard
wreath ring. Curl the fingers using a pencil and paint the "finger-
nails," red giving a berry-look to the wreath. Paste a red ribbon
in the center and it is ready to hang.
Reindeer Wrapping Paper
Make a fist, now dip the side of your hand-not the thumb end-into
brown tempera paint and apply it to a large sheet of white butcher
paper-that is the face of your reindeer. Next, dip your hand into
the brown paint, apply to each side of the face. Those handprints
are the antlers. Now, repeat the process to make a really fun
wrap for parent and grandparent presents.
You can also use your foot for the face of the reindeer. Trace
an outline of your foot onto butcher paper, or dip (yes) your
foot into paint and apply it to the butcher paper. Messy but fun!
Thumprint Character Wrapping Paper
Make thumbprint character-see sample in gallery-wrapping paper by
dipping your thumb into ink or paint and using a marker to create
details.
Hand Print Box Reindeer
Using a square box, or a milk cartoon cut in half attach two
traced, cut out antlers made from handprints to the back of the
box for a Christmas Card Holder. Paint Reindeer characteristics
or use construction paper and glue.
Very Cute Hand Inspired Mitten Christmas Tree Ornaments
Crush brown paper until it becomes very soft. Trace hand print
onto the brown paper and cut. Paint, or use crayons to decorate,
attach loose cotton at top and glue a long string of yarn to attach
the two mittens and hang onto Christmas tree.
Nutcracker Marionettes
You can make fun Nutcracer Marionette using clear straw for the
control handle. Strings are strung through the opening and attached
to the articlulated parts of the puppet. The parts are styrafoam
and papertowel rolls. The skeleton is created from clear straws
also.
Decorations can be created from pouring plaster of paris into
candy molds. Attach a paper clip or decoration hanger while the
mixture is still wet. Gloves should be worn when working with
plaster of paris mixtures.
Handmade paper can also be poured into candy molds to create
unique Christmas decorations.
