DIRECTOR'S REPORT
'TIS THE SEASON
Wow!!! I can't believe that 2002 and another great year of riding is already coming to a close. The Fall always seems to go especially fast---seems like once the first college football game hits TV, the next thing you know the bowl game pairings are being made. Same is true for the Fall colors and the festivals up in North Georgia, Halloween and Thanksgiving seems like a blur. I guess there is so much going on in the Fall that the year closes out before we know it.
As we look toward the holidays, I would like to say a huge "Thanks" to both the Officer Board for their hard work and to all of the members for the level of participation this year, In terms of the number of folks we have had attending meetings
and going on rides, this has been our most successful year in the chapter's 17-year history. To all the officers who gave of their time and effort, thanks for your "gifts" to the chapter and for caring that others have a good riding/ownership experience. Next year should be just as exciting as we will continue a lot of the trends we have started this year. We will adding fun and creating activities to do all in the spirit of "riding and having fun." If you have any suggestions for riding routes or designation you would like to see on the upcoming year riding program schedule, please let me know. The Chapter Officers would greatly appreciate your suggestions and will try to accommodate as many as possible.
In the spirit of gift giving, sometimes the more we give in terms of time and involvement to something, the more we seem to get out of the experience. How was your member experience this year? Did you participate and get involved or did you watch from the sidelines? Looking to next year, we will need volunteers on all sorts of fronts---selling raffle tickets on Saturdays at the shop, setting up and cleaning up after meetings, staffing our chapter anniversary party and the raffle drawing, etc. Please think about being generous to the chapter if you would, It will enrich your membership experience and help others from being overworked. Let any of the officers know how you would like to get involved.
The more you are involved, the better it gets!!!

ATLANTA CHAPTER, H.O.G. MEMBERSHIP
Current Atlanta Chapter, H.O.G. memberships will expire on December 31, 2002. Atlanta Chapter, H.O.G. memberships are based on the calendar year; your National H.O.G. membership runs one year from the time you join. We included a membership application in your November HOGWASH. To keep your membership current in the Atlanta Chapter, you
must return the form along with $20, per membership. Please copy the form for each application. If we do not receive your application by the mailing of the January HOGWASH, you WILL NOT receive the HOGWASH and all the services you receive for being an Atlanta Chapter Member will be invalid -- this includes the 10% discount offered by Harley-Davidson of Atlanta to Atlanta Chapter members. Please take the time right now to fill out your application and mail it to Harley-Davidson of Atlanta or bring it to Rene' at Harley-Davidson of Atlanta.
PLEASE print neatly and include an e-mail address if you have one. This way, we can inform you on timely matters concerning chapter activities. Also, include your birthday date; we don't need the year if that is sensitive data. Hope to have you as an active member in 2003. Please let us know what activities you would like to see the Atlanta Chapter participate in 2003. Of course we'll have all the old favorites and more.

LADIES OF HARLEY'S REPORT
Happy Holidays Everyone! I think I speak for all the Chapter Officers when I say we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a joyous Christmas.
Thanks to everyone who donated candy and trick-or-treat bags for the Share House kids. The kids were truly surprised and very happy. Thanks also to everyone who donated food for the Share House Thanksgiving baskets. We were able to put together several baskets for the families of Share House. They were truly thankful.
Angel Tree
Shortly after Thanksgiving, there will be a Christmas tree inside the dealership decorated with Angels. Each Angel belongs to a mother or child currently residing at Share House. These Angels need to be adopted for Christmas. Without
our help, many of them will go without anything for Christmas. I don't know about you, but the thought of a child waking up Christmas morning with nothing under the tree brings tears to my eyes. Please consider adopting an Angel or two.
Each Angel has the mother/child's name, age, clothes and shoe size on it. In addition, there is a 3-ring binder under the tree that has each Angel's personal wish list for you to use as a guide (if you wish). Please bring your wrapped gift, with
the Angel taped to the top, to the Christmas party on December 13th. If you purchase more than one gift for your Angel (which you are welcome to do), please just copy the Angel and tape an Angel to each gift. If you chose not to adopt and Angel but still want to help, you can purchase a gift and bring it to party, unwrapped, and we will find a child to give it to. Remember, by bringing a gift to the Christmas party, you will receive an additional 5% off all purchases made during the party (except bikes of course).
The Toy Ride for Share House will be December 21st. We will meet at the dealership at 10:30 and leave at 11:00 a.m. This is an escorted ride to Hunter Park in Douglasville, where we will have a Christmas party for the children (in the building there). Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there, and we will have craft activities for you to do with the children (making stockings, ornaments, etc.). The children will actually not be able to open their gifts at the party, but will receive a goody bag of smaller gifts from Santa to take home - they will save their other gifts for Christmas morning. The
party should be done by 1:00 p.m.
Thanks in advance to all who participated in giving the gift of Christmas to the Share House.
Biloxi Trip
January 31-February 2, 2003
So far we have had only about 10 people sign up for this trip. Since we're going to assume that you guys just couldn't make up your mind on a trip that far out, we're giving you one last chance to sign up for this trip. Anyone who wants to
participate needs to pay the $135 no later than December 13th. To refresh your memory, here's the trip info again:
A bus trip to Biloxi for January 31 - February 2, 2003. Since it's probably going to be pretty chilly at that time of year, we thought a bus trip would be a perfect getaway. For only $135 per person you get: Round-trip transportation, two nights stay at The Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino, two meals, $10 in gambling money and transportation to scheduled events around Biloxi.
If we don't have enough people, the trip will be cancelled. If the trip is cancelled for lack of participation, anyone who already paid will get a full refund.
Have fun, be safe and enjoy the ride!

I decided to run for Director, what was I thinking, am I crazy or what? For those who don't know me, I'm Jim Durham. Rene' and I will be married 32 years in March. We have one daughter and two grandchildren. I have had some type of motorcycle all my life and enjoy building custom bikes and riding. Our first ride of the year will be the Tommy Tyner Memorial Ride. For those who are new, Tommy was an employee of Harley-Davidson of Atlanta and a very good friend who was killed on a test ride several years ago. So, we decided to change our New Year's Day ride to his memorial ride.
Jim Durham, Director
Our annual Christmas Ride to Christian City was a great success. We had about 20 bikes and cars filled with lots of gifts. The weather held off for the ride thou damp. We had a wonderful visit with the kids and house parents including a video
and Christmas carols. They truly appreciated everything, but the blessing was ours too. Thank you everyone for making it so great. I thank God for you all and the sweet fellowship we have.
Ginger Gardiner, Ladies of Harley Officer

When you register, please give us you name. That way other members will recognize your name and be able to email you as a member of the Atlanta Chapter and not someone in Kalamazoo. You will also be able to check out other Harley related clubs around the world. If you have problems, email me and I will try and help.
Gary Langmaid will keep the calendar up to date, so there is no need to miss an important event date. Michele Smith is now in charge of the Hot Line. If you have concerns about the status of a ride, PLEASE, call 770-908-3435.

GA STATE H.O.G. RALLY, 2002
Thank you Rene' and the 2002 GA State H.O.G. Rally Committee for a fantastic rally. I don't know how you managed to have the perfect weather, but it was great. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. People did a lot of riding because of the great weather, some even rode as far as Daytona Beach down along the ocean.
I think to have the Low County Boil on Saturday night along with the closing ceremonies was a great hit. That way people could get in early and prepare for the ride home on Sunday. The Atlanta Chapter, H.O.G. came in second on the Chapter Challenge. Congratulation to all the members that participated in the bike show, field events, volunteering and signing in for the Atlanta Chapter. Congratulations to our Director, Tom Sigerfoos for winning the best costume at the Halloween Party on Thursday night.
By the time you read this, next years' preparation for the GA State Rally will be under way. A meeting will be held on November 16 to decide on the location and the committee. They are going to have a hard job to top the Jekyll Island, 10th Anniversary Rally.
B.K. Ellis, Assistant Director
STEAM & GAS SHOW RIDE RECAP
Although very cloudy most of the day, the 78 plus mile ride to Cumming was quite enjoyable. Only a minute trace of precipitation befell the nine bikes and fourteen people that left H-D Atlanta. After a quick route review and safety briefing, prizes were given to members that correctly answered Hogwash related questions. Congrats to Gary Langmaid! (It's a good thing he rides a dresser so he had a place to put all those prizes.) A close altercation with a four wheeler in Hiram was a little unnerving, but as they say "Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades." We picked up a group of four more Harleys from the Carrollton area also headed to Cumming, before our scheduled stop in Cartersville. We arrived at the Cumming Fairgrounds just in time for the Parade of Power. Steam engines built in 1903 and later, early steel wheel tractors, and a few antique trucks made for an impressive parade. Also, the hill climb using steam engines was pretty neat. All in all it was a pretty good day. The ride home was uneventful and that's a good thing. Enough Said!
