LETS GO TO SAVANNAH!
Are you ready for our Savannah Ride?
Allan Farmer, or Ride Director, has laid out a beautiful route on all back
roads going to Savannah. He has made plans for us to have a buffet (or
menu item) lunch about half way down. For all of you that haven't heard,
it is Friday, Saturday and Sunday April 17, 18 and 19. The largest group
will leave the shop (H-D of Atlanta) at 9:00 AM SHARP! We will travel 1-20
East to 1-75 South to Exit 69. We will exit and turn left onto Hwy. 155.
The second group will then merge in with us out of the BP Station at the
exit. I have been in touch with the Savannah H.O.G. Chapter and they are
looking forward to us coming down. After we roll into Savannah and get
to the motels, everyone is pretty much on their own for dinner. If you
don't have a place to eat picked out, then hook up with Allan Farmer and
myself and we'll go eat some great BROILED seafood. Saturday morning after
breakfast, we'll meet at Savannah H-D just under the bridge from the motel
and join up with the Savannah Chapter. They have promised to take us on
some scenic rides to the beach, the historical area and out through the
countryside. Now, Saturday night we will. have an Atlanta HOG Chapter dinner
at Snapper's Seafood Restaurant where we have a complete wing of the dining
room reserved for just us! Allan and I have sampled the fixings there and
can assure you they are superb. They have seafood, steaks, chicken, ribs
and more! Just something for everyone's taste buds! Sunday, we will head
back to Atlanta and should arrive by the time the college students have
vacated the city. This is going to be a fun ride. Why don't you plan to
join us. Call the number in the Savannah Ride Flyer for reservations.
"EDDIE KISSES PIG"
Would you like to see that headline
in the paper? Then join us on the American Diabetes Association Ride To
Live '98. Eddie is one of 9 candidates competing for the "honor" of kissing
a live pig! Votes are $ 1.00 each and whichever candidate gets the most
votes wins! Pick up your brochure at Harley-Davidson of Atlanta and cast
your votes for Eddie!
GET YOUR NAME TAGS HERE!
We are collecting orders and money
for chrome engraved name tags. The cost is only $4.00 each and will really
help all of us to get to know each other better. Send your name (or nickname
if you prefer) and $4.00 to:

"Gear Up"
by Mendel Stafford
Hope everyone had a safe and good time
in Daytona. I made it down for Wednesday night only. I met up with Gene
McLeod and Fred Levine. We had dinner at the Deck and cruised main street
for about 4 hours..
As we gear up for the spring and summer
riding, this is a good time to remind everyone of some good habits to get
into. I have included Safe Riding in Groups and Group Hand Signals. This
rules for riding in a group will help keep everyone safe and help ensure
the group ride is a pleasant and smooth ride. The hand signals are a must
for group riding. Our Savannah ride in April is an excellent chance for
you using these good habits.
Also I would like to remind you that
at this time of year, pay close attention to your tire pressure, wheel
bearings, engine oil and possible moisture in the full tank. If your bike
has been setting for a couple of months, you want to change the oil and
add some moisture dissipater to the gas." Change the oil even if you just
changed it before the engine sat for a couple of months. Moisture can accumulate
in the oil during. extended idle periods, especially during the winter
months. The same is true with gas in the gas tank. Moisture can accumulate
in the gas tank during idle periods. Moisture dissipater can be purchased
from most any auto supply house. Don't forget that battery. Nothing worst
than having everything is good working order and the dam thing will not
crank because of neglect of good battery maintenance.
The Georgia Public Safety Office has
published the 1998 schedule for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation riding
courses. The MRC:RS is the basic 15 hour course. This course is for the
beginner and a great refresher course for experienced riders. The ERC course
is for the experienced riders. You must have had the MRC:RC before you
take the ERC. Call 800-245-4410 to request a 1998 schedule and registration
kit.
Remember, if you are not safe

ACTIVITY OFFICER 1998
Hi I am Dan Gardiner, I have been asked
to serve as Activity Officer for the Atlanta Chapter for 1998. We are fast
approaching the riding season and hope to have several activities in the
up coming year.
If you have recommendations or suggestions
for any type of activities please contact me at my home number (770-957-2174)

must approve all activities.
During the course of the year we will
need volunteers for all type of chapter events. For example:
Chapter table, Cookouts, Anniversary
Party, Different Ride needs, Poker Runs, Charities Etc.
I am going to track volunteers In
the events throughout the up coming season. At the end of the year we will
recognize those most active In the chapter.

Ride Safe and Have Fun,
Dan
LADIES OF HARLEY
Did you go to Bike Week? We did and
had a great time. It was very cool but sunny. Rene, Jim, Dan and I attended
Primary Officers Training during Bike Week. The course was very informative.
We all learned a lot about National Harley Owners Group guidelines and
policies.
Be sure to plan on joining us on the
April 17-19 ride to Savannah, Ga. It will be a lot of fun. Welcome Committee
Needed!!
We are looking for volunteers to serve
on a committee with me (both men and women) to welcome new members, at
the meetings, events and by phone. We will greet new members, act as or
gain a mentor for new members, call and invite them to new member rides,
and send out new member packages, etc. We hope to help and prepare them
for participation in chapter events and answer any questions they may have.
As a new rider we often don't feel
confident about riding in groups, packing for a trip, and what to expect
at the events.
I personally remember how this felt
and hopefully we can help our new brothers and sisters in riding and having
fun.
Looking to see you at our next event.
Ladies of Harley,
Ginger
