1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground veal
2 cups fine dry bread crumbs
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons salt
3 teaspoons white pepper
some allspice (to taste)
1 egg
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
Gravy: (directions follow)
1 cup half-and-half, milk, or beef stock
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water

Combine meat and other ingredients.
Shape mixture into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
Heat margarine in a large skillet over moderate heat. Lightly brown meatballs on one side (about 2 minutes) turn and brown on the other side.
Reduce heat and cover pan; simmer about 8 minutes.
Remove meatballs, pour off fat.
Gravy:
Add liquid to the skillet. Blend cornstarch and water; add to pan. Stir over moderate heat until
gravy comes to a boil; add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve gravy with meatballs.
