"Brian, I didn't know you were standing there," Nick said.

"Don't worry. I'm not angry," Brian said. "I sort of sensed something between you two. I thought I was imagining it at first, but the more I thought about it, the more real it became."

"Brian, I didn't want for any of this to happen," Adonica said. "I've always liked you so much. Ever since I was thirteen. When I first started seeing you, I can't believe it. Now what I feel for you is nothing more than friendship."

"I know," he said. "I feel the same. Adonica, you made me feel like a normal guy. You were the first girl to look beyond the fame and fortune, and got to know the real me. I thank you for that."

"I knew there was more to you than that, Brian. The other girls just didn't bother to look. They missed out on something special."

Brian opened his arms to Adonica. She took the meaning right away. They hugged for the longest time and gave each other one last kiss. Then they let go of each other.

"Nick," Brian began. "You're my best friend in the whole world. We've traveled everywhere together, been there with each other through good times and bad. You're the little brother I never had. Backstreet Boys wouldn't be the same without you...."

"Brian," Nick interrupted. "You're one of the most important people to me. The last thing I want to do is hurt you by stealing your girlfriend."

"I know that. You love her, right?"

"Yeah."

"Then you should be with her."

"What about you?"

"I love her, but in a different way. She loves you, too. I see it whenever she looks at you."

"Brian...." Adonica started.

"No, it's okay. I know you love me, but you're in love with Nick."

Brian looked at Nick again. "You treat her right or I will come after you."

"Thanks, man," Nick said, hugging Brian. Then Brian turned around and went inside.

"Do you think it'll be weird to go in there together?" Adonica asked.

"It'll definitely surprise some people, but I think they'll get used to it." Nick was quiet for a moment.

"Is it true about what Brian said," he said, finally. "Do you love me?"

"Yes, I do."

Nick looked into Adonica's eyes and saw it to be true. He leaned down and kissed her. She kissed him back with all the love she felt for him. She finally found the missing part of her heart.

A couple minutes later, Nick and Adonica walked in, hand in hand. A few people gave them strange looks, but when Adonica spotted Lila, Lila gave an it's-about-time look. Adonica smiled in return.

She looked around the room for Brian and saw him with one of her cousins. He had a look on his face Adonica had never seen before. It was true happiness. Adonica smiled.

"What are you smiling at?" Nick asked.

"Nothing. I was just thinking about how love works in mysterious ways." Adonica smiled at Nick.

"Don't I know it," he said.

They walked onto the dance floor and danced in each others arms for the rest of the night....
