Epilogue

Kevin looked at a picture of him, Karen, and a four-year-old Angela. He smiled at the picture. He'd been looking at old photo albums all day. Everything was so different now. Angela was grown up now, and that made Kevin feel his age. He looked through more boxes and found some pictures of him and the guys when the Backstreet Boys were still together. He couldn't believe some people still recognized him after all the years he'd been out of the spotlight.

He looked at pictures of him and Karen when they first got together. Kevin remember how beautiful he thought Karen was when he first met her all those years ago. Just like Karen, Angela had become a very beautiful young woman. She was a successful singer now, carrying on the family tradition of performing. Like him, Angela thrived on the attention her music had received, but she knew that it was the fans who put her in that position of success and she constantly thanked them for it.

All of the Boys children grew up to be successful. Brian Jr. had inherited his father's powerful voice, as did Nick's son, Robert. Together they started a group. And what better way to find people to join than to look within your own family? Howie's daughter Caroline was a part of the group. AJ's twin daughters Amy and Andrea got together with Angela and formed a group also. Now they were all discovering what it was like for their fathers, the Backstreet Boys, when they were the most popular group in the world. When they first found out that their dads used to be a singing group, they were a little.... embarrassed.

They knew that the Backstreet Boys had been compared to all the old groups of the past, like New Kids On The Block. In fact, Angela found out that her mother had written an article about them comparing the two groups, which made her even more embarrassed. But now that they were in the same position the Backstreet Boys were in years ago, they appreciated their fathers' past work experience more. Beside, it had opened a lot of door for the two groups when they first started out, although they were met with some resistance.

Kevin was deep in his thoughts when Angela came in. She looked at him and laughed.

"Remembering your days as a Backstreet Boy?" she teased him.

"Hey, I'm allowed to go down memory lane once in a while," Kevin smiled. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yeah, I want to see you in action. See if you, Uncle Brian, Uncle Howie, Uncle Nick, and Uncle AJ can still pull off your dance routines."

"Hey, we're not that old. I'm only 48."

"That makes the rest of the group 46, 44, 41, 39. Just be glad you all still look like you're in your early thirties."

Kevin laughed. He put all the photo albums and pictures back in the boxes and got out of the chair he was sitting in. "Come on, I want to see my daughter perform."

Together, father and daughter walked down the stairs. Kevin walked into the living room. Karen looked up and saw her family. She couldn't believe her daughter was all grown up. Kevin walked over to her and pulled her off the couch, wrapping his arms around her.

"Hey, Kare Bear," Kevin said, giving her a light kiss.

"Hey, yourself," Karen said, kissing him back. "What took you so long?"

"Dad was remembering his Backstreet Boys days," Angela said. "I caught him looking at old picutures."

Karen looked at Kevin. "Sweetheart, are you thinking of being a Backstreet Boy again?"

"I'm performing once again, with my four little brother," Kevin said. "Sometimes I miss it."

"Let's go, Mom, Dad," Angela said. "Or do you want to be late?"

"Go start the car, Angel," Karen said. "We'll be out in a second."

Angela looked at her parents, then left muttering something.

"You know, my days as a Backstreet Boy wasn't the only thing I was thinking about," Kevin told Karen.

"Oh really?" she asked. "What else?"

"I was thinking about you, and what we've been through the past twenty years. I came so close to losing you. I couldn't believe it when the doctors called me up and said you had woken up."

"I can still remember Angela's voice when she was saying goodbye to me. It was then that I knew that I couldn't leave you two without trying to fight first. It was like I was awake in my mind and I could hear everything you said, but my body wasn't responding."

"I'm just glad you didn't give up. I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't been with me. I love you more now than when we first met. If I lost you, I wouldn't have been complete. And Angela wouldn't have really got to know her mother."

Karen looked up at Kevin. "Despite everything, we made it. When those doctors told you that I wasn't going to make it, I did. I couldn't have done it without you or Angela. I love you so much, Kevin. You have all my love forever. You're my heart. You and Angela."

"You have all my love forever, too, Karen. You and Angela are my heart."

Kevin leaned down and kissed Karen passionately. Then they heard the car horn and knew that it was their daughter impatiently waiting to leave. The two walked out, arms around each other, and faced the world and the frenzy of old Backstreet Boys fans as well as new one for their family's music groups. Kevin and Karen couldn't have been happier. They beat out the odds together.
