Chapter   Three

A few minutes later, Nick and Rae were walking around the streets of Orlando. Nick showed her everything. At one point, he stopped at a flower cart and bought Rae a red rose. Then they stopped at McDonald's to eat dinner.

"I love McDonald's," Rae said.

"So do I," said Nick.

"It's definitely one of my favorite places to eat. I just LOVE the fries."

"Me, too."

"Are you going to agree with everything I say?"

"If it's about McDonald's, yes."

Rae laughed.

"You have a nice laugh," Nick said.

"Thanks," Rae said, blushing.

Nick chose that moment to put his hand over hers. They didn't say anything for a while, just sat there holding hands.

"Awwww, isn't this cute," a voice said from behind Rae.

She turned around and saw the four guys Nick had been with the day before. Now that she got a closer look at these guys, she saw they were all cute. She blushed under the gazes of two pairs of brown eyes, a pair of green eyes, and another pair of blue eyes. Then Rae took her hand away from Nick.

"What are you guys doing here?" Nick asked, annoyed.

"We got hungry, so we came to get something to eat," said one of the guys with brown eyes. "Hello, young lady. My name is AJ McLean and you must be the Raelene little Nicky has been talking non-stop about. I can see why."

"Hi, I'm Brian Littrell, Nick's best friend," said the other guy with the blue eyes.

"Hi, I'm DeAnna Lopez, but my friends call me 'Raelene'," said Rae.

"Hi, my name's Kevin Richardson, Brian's cousin," said the really tall guy with green eyes.

'His voice is so deep, I love it. He has a really cute southern drawl, too. So does his cousin', Raelene thought to herself.

"And I'm Howie Dorough, but the fellas call me 'Howie D' or 'D'," said the other guy with brown eyes. He had short, curly hair.

The guys just stood there and stared. Rae started blushing again. She wasn't used to being stared at by four cute guys at the same time.

"Guys, quit staring. Can't you see you're embarrassing her," Nick said.

"It's okay, Nick. It doesn't bother all that much," Rae said, trying to play it off. She smiled at Nick.

"See, Nick? Nothing to worry about," said AJ. "Raelene, you have a beautiful smile."

"Thanks, AJ."

"You saying my name is music to my ears."

"Cool it, AJ, or Nick is going to beat the crap out of you," Brian said.

AJ looked at Nick. Nick was staring at him with an angry expression on his face.

"Come on, Rae. Let go for a walk on the beach," Nick said, getting up.

"Alright. It was nice meeting you guys," Rae said, giving them another smile. They all smiled back.

"We hope to see you again, Raelene," Brian said.

"Yeah. Hopefully soon," said Kevin.

"Real soon," AJ said. Howie elbowed him in the side.

"See you later, Raelene," Howie said.

Nick grabbed Raelene's hand and headed towards the door. "Bye, guys!" he yelled over his shoulder.

They got to the beach, not too far away. They walked in silence, holding hands. Nick was kind of mad about the guys ruining a good moment.

"If you're worried that I'm mad about what happened, don't be," Rae said, breaking Nick away from his thoughts.

"I AM sorry about that. I didn't think they would do that. They wanted me to introduce you to them later. I guess they couldn't wait."

"It's okay. Really. It was nice meeting your friends. But there was one thing I couldn't do with them there."

"What's that?"

Nick was caught completely off guard as Rae kissed him softly on the lips. He was so shocked, he almost forgot to kiss her back.

"That," Rae said, ending the kiss.

"Oh," Nick said. "Are you sure you're not at least fourteen yet?"

Rae laughed. "I'm pretty positive. I've still got a couple more years before I reach that age."

"Just checking." Nick took her hand in his and started walking again.

"Don't you feel weird about my being younger than you?"

"No. Why should it? Judging from Scott, you don't feel any different about hangin' out with older guys."

"It's just that I've always hung out with older people. The fact that they're mostly guys is meaningless. I just get along with them better."

They walked in silence for a while. They were both content just being together and holding hands. But they knew it was getting late and they'd have to leave soon.

"Let's go to the Backstreet Market," Nick said, breaking the silence.

"The Backstreet Market?" Rae asked, confused.

"Oh, I forgot. You're not from around here. The Backstreet Market is like this hang-out for local teenagers."

"Okay. I'm not a teenager, but okay."

"Actually, not just teens hang out there. Kevin hangs out there and he hasn't been a teenager for a couple of years."

"How old are the other guys, anyway?"

"AJ's fifteen, Brian's eighteen, Howie's nineteen going on twenty, and Kevin's twenty-one going on twenty-two."

"And you think I hang out with older people?"

"No. I was just noticing how alike we are in the friendship department." Nick looked down at Rae. She was looking at him, too, and she smiled. 'His eyes are so beautiful,' she thought. 'They light up when he smiles.'

"Here we are," Nick said, looking around.

"And there are your friends. I also see they're watching us," said Rae, with a mischievious smile.

"What's are you thinking?" Nick asked, noticing the smile.

"Well, Nick, they're expecting a show, so I figure we give them one."

"I like the way you think. What do you have in mind?"

"This." Then Rae pulled Nick's head down and kissed him.
