Chapter   Ten

I don't think Nick actually believe I was going to leave until he heard his Corvette being turned on and taking off. I grabbed the first set of keys I saw, went outside, looked and saw they were to the 'vette, threw my bags in the back, then took off. I broke the speed limit all the way to the airport. Luckily, I didn't get caught. I was in the process of purchasing my ticket when Nick finally caught up with me.

"Rosary!" he yelled all the way from the entrance.

I ignored him. Nick ran over to the place I was standing, waiting for the check I wrote to pay for my ticket to be processed and approved.

"Rosary, wait!" Nick said when he reached me. "You have to give me a chance to explain."

"I don't have to do anything," I said. "I'm going back home. I don't belong here. I never did."

"Yes, you do." Nick took my hand. He looked at the person behind the counter. "Could you hold off on the ticket thing for a few minutes?"

She frowned a little. "Ten minutes at the longest."

"That's fine." Nick pulled me away from the counter. We sat down in some nearby seats. "Rosary, we have to talk about this."

"What is there to talk about?" I asked. "I was just something to keep you busy while you waited for Samantha to come to her senses. That showed me that my place is not here, but at home. I never should've left. My father said that I would be better off staying in Mexico. He was right, as usual. But being the stubborn person I am, I went against his advice. He knew I didn't belong in this country, but I didn't listen."

"That's not true," Nick said. "First off, you were not something to keep me busy while I was waiting for Samantha to 'come to her senses'. I don't even think that girl has any. I don't know what I saw in her in the first place. But you, you're everything I've ever wanted. And you do belong here. You belong here with me. Please, Rosary, I'm begging you. Don't leave."

I looked at him. The look in his eyes was so sincere. My heart was saying me that he was telling me the truth, but my mind still had its doubts. Nick saw I was struggling with my decision and cleared it all up by doing one thing. He kissed me gently on the lips. I could feel every doubt in my mind flying out of my thoughts. When he pulled away, he looked me in the eye, waiting for me to say something.

"I don't know what it is about you, Nick," I said after thinking for a few more minutes. I touched his cheek gently. "All I know is that I like you so much it scares me."

"It scares me, too," Nick admitted. "I've never felt this way about anyone before, least of all Samantha. From the moment I first saw you, I felt this.... this...." Nick sighed. "I don't know how to describe it. I just know that what we have is so right and nothing else could ever compare."

I was about to answer him when the lady behind the counter called out to us. "Your ten minutes are up. Are you going to purchase the ticket or not?"

Nick looked at me. I could see the fear in his eyes. My mind was made up.

"No, I'm not," I called back to her.

Nick pulled me into a big bear hug and didn't let go for the longest time. After he finally did let go, we walked back to the counter, grabbed my bags, canceled the ticket, and headed back to the parking lot. I told Nick I'd meet back at his place. He took my bags with him to his other car, probably to make sure I stayed, but I didn't think much of it then.

We arrived home and walked inside the house together. Nick took me straight to my room and helped me unpack my stuff. Then he took my hand and led me downstairs. We went into the kitchen and I gasped. There were candles set up all around the kitchen, flowers on the table, and a delicious-looking dinner ready to eat. I looked at Nick in surprise.

"I called the fellas on the way to the airport," Nick smiled. "I told them to set this all up in the off chance you'd come back to me."

I looked around the kitchen again. "Actually, I don't think I ever really left you."

I smiled at him and he leaned down to kiss me. We sat and ate the food, which was totally awesome. I'm gonna have to thank the guys for doing this, I thought when we were finished. After we put the plates in the dishwasher, we went into the living room to watch a movie. We feel asleep on the couch. We woke up to a blue screen and looked at the clock. 10:00pm. We headed upstairs where Nick gave me a sensual kiss goodnight. This time it seemed to mean so much more. I thought about us as I laid in bed by myself, wondering what was going to come out of this relationship. I never would've guessed I'd end up with a broken heart.
