Chapter   Ten

“Daddy,” his daughter said as she clunched her soft pink blanket in her hand.

“Yes Britt,” AJ asked as he came out of his stare.

“I have to tell you something.”

AJ patted the couch next to him, “Come tell me.”

Brittany walked over to him, and he helped her up on the couch.

“Mommy was just here.”

“Why,” AJ asked as he brushed the hair from her eyes.

“She said, ‘Don’t be scared. Everything will be O.K., and she loves you.’ She was crying, too.” Brittany answered.

AJ felt his heart drop, “Why was she crying? Did she tell you?” he asked.

“She misses us. She said she can always talk to me, but she wants to talk to you, and she can’t.” Brittany answered.

“Why can’t she talk to me?”

“She said she’s my guardian angel. So I am the only person who can see and hear her.” Brittany answered.

“I told you she was your angel. Did Mommy say anything else to you?” AJ asked.

“Yes.”

“What?”

“Mommy said ‘Thank you’,” Brittany answered.

“Thank you for what?”

“Whatever you said about her today. She said she was there, and couldn’t help but cry.” Brittany answered.

AJ was about to cry, and gave his daughter a hug. “Brittany, I love you so much.”

“I love you, too Daddy.” Brittany said as she hugged her dad tight. “Is there anything else Mommy said to you?”

“Yes. She said if you ever want to talk to her, just tell me. She made me promise to tell you that.”

“If I ever need to talk to Mommy, I’ll tell you.” AJ answered.

Weeks had passed and everyone was still trying to get used to Roxanne not being there. It was hard, but everyone helped one another.

Everyone was over at AJ’s house, playing pool and hanging out.

“Daddy, can I watch this?” Brittany asked as she pulled out a copy of one of the boys’ tours.

AJ took a look at it, “It’s the ‘Into the Millennium tour’, that’s the one Mommy was on.” He said.

“I know. Can I watch it?”

AJ took a deep breath “Yes.” He said. They turned down the music, and popped the tape in the VCR downstairs on the big screen TV

They all kind of wanted to see it, but not wanting to. The concert started, and the boys came out.

As they all saw the dancer with the long light brown/blonde hair, they stopped what they were doing.

“Is that Mommy?” Brittany asked pointing to the screen.

Everyone shook their head yes, and watched her dance.

Kevin sighed as he saw him dancing with her during part of “Larger Than Life,” remembering how much fun they had. He could remember how they tried so hard not to make eachother laugh at everything.

The songs went on and each of the boys saw themselves dancing with Roxanne. She danced with each guy at least once, but was with AJ most of the time.

Brian watched as he saw them smile at eachother as she helped him down from the wires, during “Quit Playin’ Games.”

Nick watched as she danced along side of him during “Don’t Want You Back.” Howie watched as they tried not to make faces at eachother during the medley.

AJ stared at the screen every time he would see her. He smiled as he saw her dancing along with him during the medley. He sighed as he saw her dancing at the end of the ramp in front of him during “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely.”

A close up came of each of the boys as they danced with their partner during that song. AJ watched closely as their part came on. He smiled the best he could as he watched them dance together, and him tapping his fingers on her shoulder, and her smiling.

They got to the end of the show when they went to introduce all the dancers and band members to the audience. They laughed at they way AJ introduced Roxanne.

Him saying, “You all know who this cute little dancer is…do your thang girl.”

They watched the whole concert, and at the end when they all bowed, they saw how much fun they had with eachother over the years. Everyone smiling, and doing what they loved to do. How they all went and partied after the shows, or went right back on the busses heading to another show.

After the concert was over AJ looked down at the little girl that was curled up in a blanket near his feet, sound asleep.

“Do you think she’s tired?” he asked sarcastically. “I’m gonna go put her to bed. I’ll be back down.” He picked her up, cradling her in his arms.

*********************

“Guys, I’ve been thinking.” AJ said, as he finished the pool game he was playing.

“About what?” Nick asked as he put down his glass.

“I don’t know if I should go on.” He answered as he sat down on the couch looking confused.

“Go on with what?” Howie asked.

“You guys.” He answered putting his head back.
