William Asmon, Willis, John & George Corley:
Great grandfather was William Asmon Corley. He and his three brothers,
George, John and Willis were members of "Bartow Artillery". The
William Corley listed is a cousin. Willis was the oldest b. 1839
Fayette Co., Ga., was first in 60th Ga. Inf., transferring to Co. A,
to be with his brothers. George died June 19, 1862 of Malaria on June
19, 1862 in Savannah, Georgia. I have lots of info on these and have
ties to other Co. A, members, Callaway, Moore, Reeves, Starr, and
Youngbloods.

Abner Hill Bennett & Anderson Biles & Martin Luther BENNETT:
I am Kathey Kelley Hunt the great,great granddaughter of Abner Hill
Bennett, who was in Co A, 22nd GA Artillery. Kathey is also related
to Anderson Biles, who was in the same unit. He was Kathey's great,
great uncle and Abner's brother-in-law. They enlisted on the same day
in January 1862 at Griffin, Spalding County GA.
M L BENNETT listed on the roster of Bartow's Artillery IS my gr gr
uncle, Martin Luther BENNETT, brother of Abner Hill BENNETT.

Frank Buntyn & Morgan Buntyn:
A descendant of Frank Buntyn, who joined this Co. with his younger
brother, Morgan Buntyn. "I was delighted to find this page,
as I have been looking for information on this Co. I will send

Peter M. and Daniel Mcduffy Bethune:
A decendant of Peter M. and Daniel Mcduffy Bethune they are both
his gr. gr uncles the name Dill. M. is misspelled. His Gr. Gr.
Grandfather was Robert J. Bethune who was a member of Scogins Battery
Ga. Light Artillery, he had 5 brothers who fought in the war also.
They are as follows, James L. who was in Guards Ga. Artillery, Peter
M., D.M. (DUFFEY) , William M. and Morgan (August M.) Mike is also a
reenactor in Tampa Fla. Co.k 7th Fla.. Looking for any info you might
have about Scogins Battery would be greatly appreciated.
He had heard that this unit fought at Gettysburg, its on a cd I got
for Christmas called 12 roads to Gettysburg. Mike is a member of the
John T. Lesley camp #1282 Sons of Confederate Veterans in Tampa you

Richard Henry Garner & John P. Garner:
My Great Grandad (Richard Henry Garner) and My Great Great Grandad
(John P. Garner) were in the Bartow unit according to my records
and family memory. However only John P. is shown in your muster list.
Florida pension records prove that Richard H. was also in the unit as
sworn by Bartow comrades John T. Vaughn and Charles Jill Dorrell.
Richard joined in Savannah in 1863. (Dorrell is also not shown in
your list) Richard and his widow received a pension from Florida
because of his service in the unit. Richard moved to Florida in 1883
and died there in 1908. My Aunt says Richard and his dad fought side
by side, father and son. The application says he surrendered with
his unit at Greensboro, NC. My aunt also says they fought at
Gettysburg but I am not sure about that. At any rate I would
appreciate any information about John P. Garner and would hope you
would make sure you are not missing Richard H. Garner from your list.

William Harrington, Joseph C & Reason M Darsey:
Greetings. My Great, Great Grandfather, William Harrington Darsey
(c.1830-1890), joined Bartow's Artillery in August of 1861 and two of
his brothers joined subsequently JC and RM. WH was still on duty in
1864 - but this is the last mention I have of his duty. We have some
record of his post war activities, but I would appreciate knowing
more of his war record.
He hailed form Sunny Side, where his branch of the Darseys have lived
subsequently - though my generation has split to NC and GA.
Great site and I would appreciate being apprised of further
information.

Joseph C. Darsey/Dorsey:
I am the descendant of Joseph C. Darsey/Dorsey, born Oct.
28, 1844 in Henry County, GA. He and two of his brothers,
Reason M. b. abt 1835, and William H. b. abt 1842 fought
in the Bartow Artillery, along with his future brother-in-
law Willis B. Corley. All three brothers survived the war
and returned to the Griffin, GA area immediately after the war.
They were the sons of John S. Darsey/Dorsey his wife Nancy.
There were eight brothers total, George M.(Co. A, 44th GA),
Reason M. (Bartow Artillery), Francis M., John T. (Co. A, 44th
GA), William H. (Bartow Artillery), Joseph C. (Bartow Artillery),
Edward H., and Zachary T. There were also two daughters, C.B.
who married James S. Johnson, and Nancy who married Willis B.
Corley. I am interested in contacting descendants of this family
and exchanging information.

John Gossett:
"Gossett, J. M. C. --- private August 21, 1861. Transferred
to Co. A, 22nd Battn. Ga. HeavyArtillery November 26, 1862.
Appointed company Quartermaster October 1862. Paroled at
Greensboro, N. C. May 3, 1865."
This is my great grandfather, John Gossett. He shows up
in the 1880 Spalding County, Georgia census. He is married
to Sophia, 38 years old. John was 38 at the time and born
in Georgia around 1842. Therefore he was probably 16 at the
time he enlisted. I am still searching to find where he was
born, his parents, etc. His son Ruben is 3 years old at the
time of the census; Emmet is his twin. Ruben is my grandfather
who died in 1933 in Atlanta. He was Army Cavalry and served
in Cuba during the Spanish-American War and chased Poncho
Villa through Mexico under General Jack "Black" Pershing.
Any info you can direct me to would be appreciated. Anything
I can send you, let me know.

George Washington Bright:
G. W. (George Washington) Bright is my great great uncle.
He was born April 20th, 1845. He served in Company A of
the 22nd Battaliion, Georgia Heavy Artillery. He enlisted
March 18th, 1863 in Macon, Georgia and was discharged
April 9th, 1865. While on picket duty at Fort Jackson in
Savannah, he was taken prisoner during the retreat from
Savannah in 1864 (I have a letter describing the incident
for anyone interested). He was taken to a union stockade
at Hilton Head SC, and was released from there April 6th,
1865.(On one record he was listed as a deserter, but was
vindicated after writing a letter concerning the incident
to the Alabama Pensioners Bureau) In 1902 he and his
family moved to Fruithurst, Cleburne County, Alabama. He
lived there until his death on November 8th, 1927. He is
buried at Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery, which is
located in Fruithurst, Cleburne County, Alabama. I have
a variety of scanned docs (printed from microfilm) of his
service record and where he wrote to the Alabama Pensions
office, if anyone is interested in them.
Also, if it's of interest, his father, John W. Bright was
in the 44th GA Infantry (Company E, Freeman's Rangers), and
was killed at the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, and is
buried at the Confederate cemetery there.
I'm interested in corresponding with anyone that is
interested in the 22nd GA Artillery or the 44th GA
Infantry, and would be very interested to see if anyone
out there has any photos of these units.

Benjamin R. Stearns:
Benjamin R. Stearns, was my great-grandfather. He was
enlisted by Major Calhoun, of the CSA at Griffin,
Georgia (Spaulding County), on the 21st day of August
1861, and was assigned to Captain T. J. Bestody's
company, the Bartow Artillery, the Confederate States
of America. He was medically discharged at the
Convalescent Camp Springfield, on 24 September 1862,
and his discharge is signed by N. S. Lawton, surgeon.
Request this information be included in the Bartow
Artillery Boys Decendants page.

William Marshall Duke, Martin Luther & Samuel Milton Duke:
I have the below great great grandfather William Marshall Duke
of Butts Co. GA who served with the Bartow Regiment as well as
his two sons.
One son listed on the rolls of your web page as M. L. Duke is
Martin Luther Duke listed below and his other son listed as
S. M. Duke was Samuel Milton Duke.
1865 - GA, Butts Co., William M. Duke was listed on the rolls
of the 22 Regiment Georgia Artillery Bartow's Regiment. His
son Martin Luther states on a pension application by his mother
Nancy C. Wilkerson Duke, that he { Martin Luther } was on duty
with his father in Florence, SC.
Martin's father was taken ill with fever on the 4th day of
March 1865 & his father died on the 5th day March 1865 and
Martin saw his father buried on the lawn of the court house
of Florence SC.
His wife Nancy Wilkerson makes a claim for a pension on 6th
April 1891 she says she has lived in GA since 1828 that she
married William M. Duke 5th July 1843 and has never remarried.
