Margarine | 2 sticks |
Powdered Cocoa | 3 or 4 tablespoons |
Water | 1 cup |
Flour | 2 cups |
Sugar | 2 cups |
Baking Soda | 1 teaspoon |
Eggs | 2, any size |
Sour Cream Or Buttermilk | 1/2 cup |
Vanilla | 1 teaspoon |
Salt | 1/2 teaspoon |
Bring to a boil margarine, cocoa and water. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients. (Batter will be thick, like Brownie batter.) Pour into a greased and floured large rectangle cake pan. Bake at 350 for about half an hour. Do NOT overcook! |
Use regular milk instead of sour cream or buttermilk. |

Chopped Pecans Or Walnuts | 3/4 cup |
START MAKING ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE CAKE IS DONE! Bring to a boil the margarine, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat and add the powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Spread over cake when the the cake is removed from the oven. |
