The Annunciation To Joseph

  1. Joseph's plan was to put Mary away privately.
  2. Joseph spent some time thinking over the situation and pondered what it all meant and what course he should take (Matt. 1:20).
  3. READ MATTHEW 1:20-25. The Angel appears to Joseph.


John Is Born

  1. READ LUKE 1:57-58. John is born.
  2. John Is Named.
  3. LUKE 1:80: "And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel."
  4. Joseph Smith: "When Herod's edict went forth to destroy the young children, John was about six months older than Jesus, and came under this hellish edict, and Zacharias caused his mother to take him into the mountains, where he was raised on locusts and wild honey. When his father refused to disclose [John's] hiding place, [he] was slain by Herod's order". (TPJS, p261)
