"milk cordial?"

Keryn stood looking out the window, below, in her old neighbourhood there were kids skating on the road. Nothing had changed. She couldnt get over it, not one little thing had changed. Even the Hanson's house smelt the same, even Taylor smelt the same.....Not that she monitored his smell or anything. Standing at the window she suddenly felt memories flooding back. Taylor had cleaned out this room for her to stay in. It had been her room when they were kids, seeing that she had spent half her childhood in this house she was given a room, when she had left they had turned it into a storeroom. Taylor had been insistent that he cleaned it out so when she arrived she could stay in "her room." It was weird to be back in this room, the room she and Taylor had painted red to warm off monsters when they were little.

"Wanna drink?"

Taylor broke her train of thought. She turned to see him leaning on the door frame. He had been scanning her, she could tell, he had been checking her out. She flushed, not only at this realisation but the realisation that she too had been giving him the once over. They mide eyecontact and both smiled, embarassed smiles.

"Yeah, I'd love a drink, I'll be right there."

"Cool."

She heard him walk down the stairs and she wondered what had just happened.

I was just checking him out. I was just checking Taylor out! Oh my God!! That is as bad as checking my brother out! I must have been dreaming.

And with that Keryn dissmised the thought and left her room.

In the kitchen Taylor was having similar thoughts.
Technically I wasn't checking her out. I definetely wasnt checking her out, I havent seen her in years I was just...seeing how much she'd changed. I definetely wasn't checking her out.

Keryn walked into the kitchen and stared at Taylor in amusement.

"What?"

"Nothing..I was just wondering how long it would take you to realise that you are adding milk to your cordial."

Taylor looked down to see, and sure enough there was a discusting looking drink staring right back at him.

"Yep, my new creation..."milk cordial"..."

He lifted the glass up to his mouth and prepared to take a sip. Suddenly the glass was gone, Keryn had pulled it from his hands and thrown it down the sink.

"I wasn't going to drink it you know."

"Well I wasnt going to take any chances."

They both dissolved in laughter and set about making some normal cordial. They were interupted by the phone ringing in the hall.

"Thats probably Kathryn telling me that she is now home and she has left something of great importance here." Taylor said with a laugh as he went into the hall to get the phone.

He returned two seconds later.

"It's for you."he said, with a puzzled look on his face.

"For me? Thats strange."

Taylor handed Keryn the 'walk about phone' and went back to making the cordial.

"Hello?"

"Keryn, Oh thank God!"

"Kayla is that you?"

"Yes, Keryn I dont know what to do??? I am so confused...help me!!"

Taylor was staring at Keryn in intrest but she just waved him away. taylor made a face but left the kitchen.

"Calm down..is this about Daniel again?"

"Yes, Keryn I have nowhere to go, my parents are out of town and I was staying at Dan's, but he chucked me out...I'm not so much upset about that but I have nowhere to go tonight...or tomorrow..or the nest da-"

"Okay okay!! Have you rung your parents?"

"Are you crazy! You know they hate Dan this would just be more 'evidence' of  what a bad influence he is on me. That is all they need."

"Well maybe they are right!"

"Keryn I rang you for support!"

"Sorry..but this is getting a bit over the top you are hardly together anymore."

"We havent broken up, just had a fight."

"You're always having a fight."

"Not always."

"Okay..so where are you now?"

"Payphone."

"Jesus Kayla....hold on a second."

Keryn put the phone on the table and called for Taylor. He only took about 3 seconds to arrive to he must have been listening.

"I have a big favour to ask."

"Oh yeah? What?"

"Can I invite a friend from LA out here..she is having a rough time and has nowhere to go....please?"

Taylors eyes grew wide with disbelief. They stood staring at each other and at the same time realised that the phone was singing, or rather Kayla was. They giggled.

"Yeah she sounds like she is having a really rough time." Taylor laughed

"No honestly she is.." Keryn made a mental not to kill Kayla when she came, if she came.

"Well okay, next week only you me, Ike and Zac are here anyways so there will be heaps of room."

"Thanks, I owe you one."

"More than one!!"

"Okay a few...thanks Taylor."

"Well go on ask her."

Keryn picked up the phone.

"You can stop singing now."

"You could hear me? Oh how embarrassing..!!"

"Yes. typical Kayla..now have you got money? Stupid question do you have enough money for a plane ticket?"

"What? yeah I do."

"Go book the next flight to Tulsa then."

"WHERE?"

"Tulsa, just book it and I'll meet you at the airport."

"Ummm okay..thanks Keryn what would I do without you?"

"I have no idea! Now go find a plane."

"To Tulsa....oh Tulsa...thats where you used to live..okay seeya soon."

"Yeah..bye."

Taylor was now eating an apple and staring at Keryn in awe.

"Sorry Tay."

"That's okay...so that was Kayla...doesnt she have anywhere else to go?"

"Yeah thats Kayla...no, really she doesnt, Daniel is a bastard who never really treats her right, dont ask me why she stays with him and her parents, well lets just say that they are rich, high class socialites, no time for a daughter."

"Wow..how depressing, she must be a pretty low person."

"Kayla? Low? I dont think so....gotta meet her to believe her...you just experianced some then, she was singing to a payphone after being chucked out in LA...."

"True...well this is going to be one interesting holiday." Laughed Taylor

"Oh yeah...."
