~"marshmallow mission"~

Ike had had it. This was it. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Taylor Hanson was going to pay for being THE most annoying, self-centered liar that had graced the earth. But Ike wasnt exactly sure how he was going to make him pay, he was even a bit suprised that this anger inside him had exploded so quickly. But he did know he was angry, very angry, so angry he shook at the thought of Taylor and his pathetic excuse that he knew he was going to have to hear at one point or another. He sat up in bed, hitting his head immediately on the ceiling and cursing Taylor once again for getting the lower bunk. He jumped to the floor and left the room. As he crept along the hallway to his sisters room he could hear Keryn and Taylor laughing downstairs, this made him even more mad. How could he be laughing when he had just back-stabbed his brother? Ike sighed and slowly opened the door to Jess and Avie's room. Kayla, still sleeping, lay sprawled on the bed. Ike went and sat on the chair next to her. He must have sat for half and hour or so, listening to her breathing and devising ways to kill his brother. So when Kayla spoke he almost went flying off the chair in shock.

"Dont blame Taylor" her eyes were still shut and she spoke almost reading his mind.

"Kayla?" her eyes slowly opened and she smiled.

"It’s not Taylor’s fault." Her hand reached out from under the covers to stroke his hair and she closed her eyes again. Ike waited until her breathing became regular before slipping out the door.

Downstairs a rather frustrated Zac entered the house slamming every door possible. Taylor and Keryn were quick to come out of the kitchen and tell him to shut up.

"What are you my parents now?"

"No Zac but Kayla is still asleep and what the hell is wrong with you anyways? Asked Keryn

"What’s wrong with me? I’ll tell you whats wrong with me."

Keryn and Taylor stared at him expectantly while he wallowed in the attention.

"That stupid bitch next door..GILLIAN" he spat her name out "well she sold my skateboard…Tay, she SOLD my skateboard. So I have been trying to find out who bought it so I can get it back. BUT do you think they want to sell it back?..NOOOOOOO of course not." Zac marched into the kitchen and grabbed a can of coke.

"You should really drink water." advised Taylor.

"Since when are you Mr. Health Freak?" Anyways now my beloved skateboard lives with some chick who cant even use it."

"I know it sucks but hey at least you can get a new one now." Said Keryn trying to get Zac to chill out.

"I dont want a new one Keryn, I want MY one." And with that Zac Hanson left the kitchen and stormed up the stairs,

"Woah Man..whats with the noise?" Asked Ike as he met him on the stairs. Zac didnt reply and kept pounding the stairs. Ike shrugged and headed down to the kitchen.

Keryn and Taylor were sat at the kitchen table sharing a pack of marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate when Ike came in. He stood at the door and just seemed to stare at them.

"Look Ike I promise.." began Taylor.

"I know, I know she said it wasn’t your fault." Finished Ike, amazing himself at how his hatred had vaporized so quickly.

"Is she awake?" asked Keryn

"She was drifting in and out when I was there." Replied Ike.

"Oh, well then I’ll take her up something."

Keryn quickly grabbed the pack of marshmallows after telling the boys that she couldn’t believe that in a house of 7 children there was not one jar of vegemite . She also took with her untouched mug of hot chocolate. Isaac and Taylor were suddenly alone. They were both silent for a long time not quite sure how to approach the events of the day.

"You want a drink?" Asked Taylor.

"Nah."

Once again silence settled.

"Tay, look I dont know what happened but.."

"Nothing happened Ike. I was just there when she decided the world sucked."

Ike looked at Taylor and it was obvious that he was telling the truth. He took a deep breath, swallowed his pride and finally said,

"Well Tay, I’m happy that someone was there for her, even if it wasn’t me."

The two brothers shared a smile before Ike took them back to their normal bantering.

"So are there any more marshmallows or did our beloved house guest swipe them all?"

And with that the two brothers began a mission, a marshmallow mission.

Keryn knocked on Kayla’s door and a muffled ‘hello’ was heard from within. As she entered Keryn was immediately struck by the atmosphere it felt thick with fear and worry. One look at Kayla was enough to confirm that she was still dealing with her heartbreak.

"Well I dont think I’ll ask if your feeling better."

"Do I really look that bad.?"

"No, you mostly look tired..and sick."

"I look bad."

Keryn handed Kayla her hot chocolate and plonked on the chair Ike had sat on before and dug into the marshmallows.

"What have I done Keryn?"

"What do you mean?"

"I can feel the tension between Ike and Tay, I’m not blind....what have I done?"

"Don’t worry, that’s all sorted out now..you already fixed it." Kayla looked at her, confused.

"Ike believed you." Keryn wasn’t about to add just because he has a crush on you she thought it was a bit too early to bring that up yet. Never the less Kayla let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank God..I am sorry for wreaking your holiday Keryn."

"Dont say that! I’m so happy your here, if this had happened to you in LA you know I would have flown back there in a second anyways so really it’s lucky your here. Besides the guys love you and tomorrow we’ll forget about today and hit the town."

"What? You mean the metropolis of Tulsa?" Kayla laughed.

"Well at least you can joke, but please not at the expense of my beloved Tulsa." Keryn replied in mock hurt.

"Okay the..it’s a deal, can I have a marshmallow or are you going to hog the lot?"

"I guess I could spare you one." Keryn tossed marshmallow at Kayla. There was a pause as the two girls chewed on the marshmallows.

"I really loved him you know" said Kayla as she sipped her hot chocolate.

"I know."

"Why didn’t I notice Keryn? He was bi and I didnt even notice."

"None of us knew Kayla."

"Yes but I was his girlfriend..I should have known."

Keryn was silent, she didnt know what to say.

"I wasted two years with him. My parents were right. Oh God what am I going to say to them?"

"Well you wont see them for another two months or so will you?"

" I know, their social lives are so bloody important. They don’t even know I’m here, not that they would care."

"I’m sure they care..in their own way."

"Keryn you know they dont."

A calming silence settled on the girls as they thought about the situation. It had grown dark outside and somebody downstairs had MTV on. Keryn sighed, life was so complicated for some people.

"Well I better go downstairs and make sure they havent blown anything up yet, you want to come down yet?"

"No, not yet" Kayla smiled back at her.

"Okay then."

Keryn walked towards the door and was almost outside when Kayla called from with within.

"Umm Keryn, if Ike is free can you ask him to come up? He’s really good to talk to you know."

"I know."Said Keryn as she smiled to herself and closed the door.
