~"Meeting Again"~

The sun shone on his back as he walked towards the sizzling car. He was going to the airport to meet his friend. His best friend. They had been friends since they were neighbors at five years of age. He had not seen her for three years. He drove along the long, hot, melting road to the airport. He hated driving in the sun.

"Don’t squint your eyes. You will get wrinkles." exclaimed his cousin, Kathryn as she handed him the sunglasses.

"Hey! Don’t tell me what to do!" Taylor laughed right back to her as his eyes twinkled in the sunlight.

Kathryn looked at her cousin. He was so excited. He and Keryn had the dream friendship. They had really grown up together, she thought. Each were devastated when they had to leave each other when she moved to a school at California. He was sixteen now and she was seventeen.

" Ahh. I can’t wait" Taylor whispered to himself. Thoughts flooded through his head. ‘I wonder what she looks like’, ‘I wonder if she is still the same person after three years’.

"What are you thinking about?" Kathryn said from the passenger side. "You look like you are about to crash us into the nearest tree".

"I am thinking about where we are going to stop on the way home for dinner, Kath" Taylor lied.

"Oooh. You are thinking of dinner? I thought you would be thinking of something else. Or have you forgotten where we are going?"

He grinned at the road in front of them. He couldn’t wait. He had been waiting for this moment for two weeks since he found out she was coming.

"I can’t believe I am back in Tulsa" Keryn whispered to herself as she found a seat at the airport. She looked at her watch. Tay and Kath would be here in five minutes. She sighed. ‘I hate planes’ she thought to herself. Big, noisy, tiring machines.

"Tay! Wait for me" Kath shouted as she ran after Tay from the parking lot.

"Hurry up!" his voice rose. "We’re gunna be late!".

"It’s not as if she is going to run away on us. Now, is it?" Kath breathlessly gasped back.

"Keryn!!! Keryn!!!" someone called from the end of the airport.

She swung around to see him. "Tay?" As he got closer she examined him. ‘Wow’ she thought as her eyes moved up and down his body. He had really changed. His hair was slightly shorter and still had the golden touch. He was a lot taller. And the thirteen year old body that I had remembered had turned into a completely different site. He was a man.

"Wow, I am so happy to see you!" he said as he rushed forward to give her a hug. "How have you been?"

"I have been better than ever." she said as she thought to herself. "What abou.."

She was cut off by a blood curdling scream from the other side of the airport. They all swung around to see what had caused the stir.

"Oh God" Taylor choked.

"What?" Keryn replied. She didn’t need to be answered. The next thing she knew Taylor had grabbed her and Kathryn’s hands tightly and they were being pulled across the airport like water ski’s.

"C’mon" Taylor said as he dodged an oncoming suitcase. "We gotta get to the car".

"Everyone in?" a relieved Kathryn said as she buckled herself into the backseat.

Keryn turned around and looked at Kathryn.

"Are you meaning to tell me that all this is for him?" she smiled when her glance crossed to Taylor. His neck gave way on the head rest of the drivers seat. "Awww...isn’t he cute!!"

"The same thing happened yesterday at the mall" she exclaimed in reply.

"Wow" she said as her eyes met Taylor’s.

"Hey......." he smiled. "Look, I am really sorry about that".

"No, that is fine..." she laughed. "You were always one for dragging people across the airport when you haven't see them in 3 years"

"Ah huh!" Taylor groaned. "You still have that sarcasm in you!"

"Hey Tay, I can remember you used to mock everything that she said when she lived next door!" Kathryn offered from the backseat.

Taylor thought. He did do that quite a bit. One day it had even bought her to tears. It was back when they were twelve. She had just sat there for an entire hour telling him her feelings for his older brother, Isaac. All he could do was laugh. The exact words went through his head.

‘Don’t Taaaylorr’ She whined as he sat in hysterics.

‘Ha ha! I can’t......You and.....Ike!’ He couldn’t help it.

‘What is so wrong with liking Ike?’ she asked.

‘Well, for a start look at Belinda’ That was Ike’s current girlfriend. ‘She is way pretty’

At this Keryn could feel the tears well up in her eyes. She turned her head away from Tay, who was rolling on the floor now. ‘I have to get out of here’ she thought to herself. Without any other thought. She got up and swung the door open. Just as she took a step out of Taylor’s bedroom door he let out a wailing yelp.

‘aaarrggghhhhh’ he shouted

Keryn raced back into the room to find Taylor clutching his head. He looked rather dumbfounded as if he were witnessing the butterflies from the Nickelodeon channel.

‘Oh my God’ She said when she realised that she had given Tay a big wack in the head when she forced forced the door open.

‘Get Zaaaacc’ he said. Keryn thought for a moment.

‘What is Zac going to do?’

‘Who is Zac. Oh. Get Mommm’

After that day in hospital he decided to let Keryn’s crush on Isaac go. Mainly due to the fact that he did want to be here for his thirteenth.

"Does he normally do this" Taylor heard as he came back to reality.

"What?" he asked, slightly confused.

Kathryn and Keryn began to giggle.

After they had calmed down Keryn began to speak seriously.

"So Taylor, how have you been?"

"I have been great. Really great. The band is about to tour, the album was a great success. And.." he paused for a moment.

"What?" Keryn said quietly.

"Everything is great."
