I may not go far afield or look for the truly rare bird, but I find watching the "common" birds in their "common" habitats truly satisfying. While other, more "serious" birders may search out the rare or unusual sighting, I seek out the regulars--the cardinal, the mockingbird, the gull--and study their behavior and habits. Once in a while, I am blessed to witness a common bird exhibit unusual behavior.
