Barnett BLUE Jr. (1808-1864),

BUSH who came to OH from VA in 1810.
Barnett was born in VA and they were married in Fayette Co. OH, where
Elizabeth was born. After the birth
of their first child, Allen T., they moved to Platte Co. MO where he was in
charge of a large plantation. They
remained there until 1851 when they moved to Bunker Hill IN where his mother and
some of his brothers had settled. The
anti-slavery sympathies of the Blues may have encouraged them to move north.
Barnett was buried the day Lincoln was elected President the second time.
He had expressed the wish to vote for Lincoln, but missed it by several
days. Elizabeth, being much younger
than her husband, died almost 40 years later.
She had been well provided for and lived with her younger son, John,
until her death. Barnett and
Elizabeth Ann are buried in the Rankin Cemetery near Bunker Hill IN. 1.1.1.1.1.4.1*

YATES. He was a large dealer in stock and accumulated much land,
owning at one time some thirteen hundred acres of land. He was elected Justice of the Peace in 1835, holding the
office for many years, and also served as County Commissioner (probably Pickaway
Co.). Before his death, he gave
each of his children one hundred acres of land and reserved a farm for his
widow. They are both buried at

She is listed with the family in 1860, but is indicated as having $3700
in personal property. Thus, she may be a widow of a BLUE, or a daughter of another

Hannah Lawson BLUE (1815-1889), m.1836 James KUYKENDALL
(1816-1873). He was born in VA, a
son of Isaac and Jane (CALVIN) KUYKENDALL. James owned a farm located on both sides of the South Branch
of the Potomac River near Romney, Hampshire Co. VA (WV). They sold it and bought a farm, two miles east of Cumberland
MD, known as the Hitchcock Farm. Two
of their children, Isaac and Frances, were living with Hannah’s mother in
Hampshire Co. VA in 1850. At about
the start of the Civil War in 1861, they sold this farm and moved to
Springfield, Hampshire Co. where he entered the mercantile business.
After the war he suffered large losses due to the collapse of the
currency and the confiscation of his goods in the store by the Union Army.
He restarted his business and, after a few years, sold it and started a
similar business at Frenches Depot about one mile from the junction of the North
and South Branches of the Potomac River. Hannah
and James are buried at the Kuykendall-Blue Cemetery, just down-river from
Blue’s Beach, about seven miles north of Romney, Hampshire Co. WV. (Note: C913 says that James was b.1818.) 1.1.1.2.5.5.1

Charity was raised at the old Blue Place near the bridge at what is now
Blue’s Beach. They first lived in
the Green Spring Valley, north of Springfield, in Hampshire Co. VA (WV). The land there was poor, so they moved near Oldtown MD and
bought a large farm. They initially
lived in a slave house on the farm. Later
Isaac left Charity with all her children and went west to St. Louis.
While he was gone she supported her family by sewing.
Isaac then returned with money, sold the land for the B. & O. Canal
and Railroad, and became a wealthy man. He

1860. William died in Union Co.,

was heir to land owned by his father and received 400 acres on Castleman's Run

in 1825. He lived in Fox's Hollow
all of his life. (Note: Castleman's
run is now called Fox's Run, or Fox's Hollow Run, and is located on the west
side of the South Branch of the Potomac River, across from the Blue property -
Lot 27). Eliza was born in that
part of Hampshire Co. which is now Mineral Co. WV.

tax rolls through 1831, after which we have no record of her except for the

education and became a successful teacher.

married Martha LIVINGSTON, daughter
of Judge Livingston. The following
year, J. J. moved with his family to Bates Co. MO where, two years before, he
had purchased 1080 acres of land. He
gave up teaching and devoted his time to agriculture and stock raising.
He was a member of the Christian Church and is buried at the Mt. Olivet
Cemetery, Adrian MO.

In August 1864, Calvin enlisted in the town of Amity in Co. H, 44th IL
Vols., 4th Corps, under the command of Gen. Thomas. He was mustered out in Nashville after serving in two
decisive battles and several engagements. Calvin
served 18 years as constable of his township and was a school director for 9
years. He was a member of the P. M.
E. Church. He is buried at Earp
Cemetery in Livingston Co. First

who appears to be her mother, in Livingston Co. IL near Daniel’s parents in
1850. Daniel is listed with his
parents, a fact which lends some uncertainty to Daniel and Delila’s
relationship. Since many in the
family died of cholera that year, Daniel may have been living away from his wife
and children to protect them from the disease.
Daniel and his parents are also listed on the 1850 census mortality
schedule, indicating that they died of cholera within the prior year.
His listing indicates that he died in Sep, presumably 1849, but if the
census was taken late, he may have died in Sep 1850 (or the census taker listed
him erroneously in the main census). In
1860, the children were still living with Mary HANES
in Livingston Co., however, Delila is missing, indicating that she may have also

served in Robinson's 2nd TN Infantry in the Civil War.
Their children were all born in Sumner Co.
The parents of Sarah Elizabeth are uncertain. On her death certificate her son names her father as W. C. BLUE,
however, Willard’s first marriage took place two years after her birth.
It is likely that Sarah Elizabeth was Willard’s step-daughter, a
daughter of Mary BLAKE by a previous
marriage. However, she hasn’t
