Alyssa Park and Czech Pilharmonic to appear in Artists Series

The Duke Artists Series is definitely one of the perks of having access to the University's campus. In years past, the series has brought a wide variety of internationally renowned artists and performers to Page Auditorium, making them available to any student. The series provides some of the most unforgettable moments each season. This year's Artists Series will surely be no different.
An orchestra originally conducted by Antonin Dvorak will make an appearance in Page in November. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, now conducted by Vladimir Valek, will perform Nov. 15 alongside American violin soloist Alyssa Park. One of the premier orchestras in the world, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is on its seventh tour of the United States since its debut tour in 1959. For fans of composers such as Stravinsky and Prokofiev, the concert is a must.

The Moscow Festival Ballet will be rounding out the stellar string of performers in this year's Artists Series with its March 12 and 13 performances. Founded by Sergei Redchenko, a former principal dancer for the legendary Bolshoi Ballet, the company will perform one of the most beautiful and cherished ballets in the world: Adolphe Adam's "Giselle." The two Page performances should be delightful to say the least.
Tickets to individual performances, as well as season tickets and Showcase Sampler tickets, are available through Page Box Office at 684-4444. It is advisable to buy early, as shows in the Duke Artists Series typically sell out quickly, and this year's season is sure to be one of the best ever.
