after crossing the Chao Phraya River,
turn right at the monument of King Taksin.

Nakorn Pathom lies about 55 kms west of Bangkok


soon the landscape changes from
billboards to tranquil klongs
and simple bridges

Thai women in typical "raised" straw hats
wade and collect water vegetables
in canals along the road

hand-powered boats to transport vegetables

from far away, you can see
Nakorn Pathom's famous temple,

which was renovated in gold
on the occasion of Buddhist year 2500
