TOURING
February 13-24, 1998

Mercia and I rented a Corolla and drove a total of 6,300 kilometers. The roads were excellent and the car caused no problems, except for the loss of its front-license plate in Botswana.
People were friendly and helpful, prices were reasonable, the weather was fine - alternatingly hot and rainy -and included some spectacular thunderstorms and cloudscapes.
We encountered very few mosquitoes but nevertheless followed a cure against malaria.
Namibia is unbelievably impressive, eery and primeval, and it was good to finally see it from the landside...I already worked the offshore from 1963-5. We heartily recommend it to fellow tourists and commend MET - the Namibian Ministry of Environment and Tourism for its success in establishing parks, tourist sites and accommodations!
