The Park, gazetted in 1983, consists of a rugged complex of mountains made up of several peaks covering 4,106 hectares. The highest point is Gunung Gading at 906 meters. These mountains are a dominant in the whole (Lundu) region attributing to one of its outstanding beauties. In the upper reaches of the Sungai (river) Lundu are a series of waterfalls - a popular recreational destination for locals. Gading is the home to numerous rare plants including the world's largest flower, the spectacular RAFFLESIA locally called Tuan Mudae (bunga pakma) which at full bloom stretches nearly one meter in width. Although there is no specific flowering season, past blooming occur mostly during the third and last quarter of the year and each bloomed flower will last only an average of 5 days. Very strict care must be observed during the mandatory guided walk to the Rafflesia site. Please check with us for details concerning each blooming season. The Park is about an 2 hour drive away from Kuching. As accommodation facilities in the park are limited, hotels in Lundu Pandan and Siar offer alternatives. Beaches at Siar and Pandan are scenic and provide swimming spots. Please give adequate advance notice to enable us to make the necessary arrangement. INCLUDES · Transfer and tour as per itinerary · Accommodation for overnight-trippers on share basis · Meal/s · Tour Guide · Air conditioned vehicle · Entrance fees & Permit EXCLUDES · Camera & Video fees · Items not mentioned
