Dear Joseph,
Thank you so much for your letter of encouragement!
The Brothers and Sisters on the line are getting stronger by
the day, hearing from so many good folks such as yourself.
My name is CJ Hamilla, I am a member of UAW Local 659,
and recieved a copy of your letter from our local president,
Duane Zuckschwerdt.
I am writing you, to ask your permission to post your comments
on the news group, alt.society.labor-unions. I have been
attempting to post strike updates on some sort of
regular basis, though I have gotten a little behind.
(It's been kind of hectic lately)
I also invite you, and your Brothers and Sisters to post
commentsyourself to the newsgroup. I believe we can
turn the tide that is now against us by sticking together,
and the internet is onemore tool we can use to demonstrate
our solidarity.
I am hoping you can help us with your cooperation.
fraternally,
or if that's not workingc

Hi Joe,
Just wanted to drop you a line and say
thanks for coming by the site and for linking
us to the other union sites around the country.
We have received letters of support from
many other unions, contributions for our strike fund
from some, and the well wishes from people all
around the globe as we take on the giants
of the towing industry.
This movement has been a little herky-jerky
right from the start due to the fact that none of us
knew anything about unions much less how to start
one! But with the help of the MM&P and others,
we are slowly starting to make headway.
We have not received all the help we would
like from the ILA, but have probably received all
we deserve. Many of our members could not
work up the nerve to walk when it was time to do
so, and this has crippled us to no small degree.
But slowly, we are beginning to get
organized and become an effective force.
From what I understand, we are the first union
to start right from ground-level and fight our way into
existence in over a century.
Many union men that I have communicated with
seem to be backing us for this reason if no other.
But we will continue to fight the good fight for
as long as it takes. Thank your union brothers
us for their prayers and encouragement.
In solidarity, Mark Haury-Webmaster-Pilots Agree

Dear Brother Toro
My name is Jim Tharp I am the president of UAW local 413
in Menominee MI, I work for a outdoor furniture manufacturer.
Across the border in Marinette WI, we have one of those non-union
BUDD plants, these people believe they have the greatest thing going
since sliced bread. We have talked to some of the employees about
organizing but like I said they think they have it great. I know
for a fact their wages a benefits are not even close to what other
organized BUDD plants are. If it is possible I would like to get a copy
of your labor agreement to prove to these people that to be unionized is
the greatest thing since sliced bread. I figure that
if the non-unionized plants are going to take work away from us we
better do a better job of getting them organized, better to have them
with us than against us. If I could get a copy of your labor agreement
you can send it to James Tharp

Greetings:
I am a lead organizer for UNITE.
I am also a musician who is active
in restoring a meaningful place for
cultural work within the labor
movement.
I have recently established a web
site - Hard Miles Music
This real audio site features my CD,
UNITE's Whiteville Apparel Choir,
and a gallery of union art from
various campaigns. It is one of the
very few sites devoted to the labor
movement and the arts. You can read
more about it in the January 5 issue
of Work In Progress.
I would very much appreciate having a
link from your site.

comment: Why is Ford Discontinuing the
Ford Aerostar? Some say they are stupid-I
agree.But others-also like me-think that
they don't listen too their customers as
much as they used too (or dealers).I
have been giving them so much advice
on what they should add things where and
how they should put them there. But they
still don't listen.I personally want
Ford to keep the Aerostar going, because
I have always been a loyal Ford Aerostar
fan and driver.I have experenced 4 all-
together!!!!If Ford still decides to
drop the Aerostar then they should be
informed that they are making a BIG and
HORRIBLE mistake.But they should also
know that if they do drop it from the
Ford line-that they lost the battle V.S.
the main competitor (GM)-the Astro and
the Safari.

Good morning Joe,
Thanks again for the link. I'm thrilled to be a part of anyone's web
site. We've been up and running mid April. The trend is growing and
hopefully all locals will one day be on the net. For the IBEW, I
believe it is the tramp guide of the future. I feel the electronic
brotherhood is growing and I'm glad to be a part of it. Thanks again
for the link.

Comments: Joe, Just want to let you know that there will be
a gigantic labor march June 20,21 inDetroit to show solidarity
to the Detroit Newspaper strikers who are now locked out for 2
years by unfair labor practices.
Alink for their home page would be great and
the address is:Click here
and the page is called Action Motown 97. The home page gives
airplanes, hotels, and updates. Let's make this a national labor
success. It is supported by the AFL-CIO.
Also, please remember us utility workers who are in the begginnings
of deregulation in the electric power industry and the gas industry
for many jobs will be lost and the price will go up for consumers.
We have many brothers and sisters in the Boston area and our national
president is from the Boston area. Keep up the good work.

Got your e-mail and I am still in the process of talking my
exec board into a web site, and of course their main concern
is the cost and maintenance. I am going to try and utilize
the offer you have made and send you some info about our
local 2382 UAW. I personally am very excited about the
possibilities for our new local, chartered in April 97.
And am very hopeful that we will become a good example for
the other plants in our community of Greencastle,IN.
I checked out your site and it's impressive, great job.
Write to ya later, with more info.
